Dani raised an eyebrow and smiled her sideways smile as she looked into his eyes. Her smile suddenly spread into a grin as she laughed quietly and shook her head. She decided to just say it. "You know....in a fit of insanity, I was actually going to ask you to go to the ball with me," she said, laughing at herself on the last bit.

Sirius' heart skipped a beat, but he ignored it, he carried on watching Danni.
"And now Smith why would you want to do such a thing like that?" he asked pathetically.....

Dani shrugged and laughed again. "You know, I have no idea..." she said, tryig to play it off as if she didn't know what she was thinking. "You're probably going to go with the prettiest, most popular girl in school, right?" she asked, looking at him with a smile on her face.

Lily yawned and got up, stretching her arms. It took her a mere 10 seconds to remember the ordeal of the previous night and buried her head in her pillow again. After 5 minutes she got up and dressed and walked into the common room, said hello to her fellow students and carried on to the great hall, where she sat down at the end of the gryffindor table and started on a piece of toast.

Sirius woke early the previous night's events flooding back to him, all the feelings he felt.
It climbed out of the bed felt it was gonna be one of those days where it was gonna suck and he was gonna be in a bad mood and take it out on everyone - save James of course.
He dressed quietly, his mood growing making him sullen, he grabbed his bag and made his way down to the Great Hall where he grabbed a slice of buttered toast and sat a little way off from Lily.

Fiona woke early, her pillows damp from crying herself to sleep the previous night, quickly she climbed out of her bed and washed and dressed, she couldn't be bothered to do anything with make - up and her hair, instead she pulle it back and clipped her fringe to the side to keep it out of her face.
She then grabbed her bag and walked down to the Great Hall, she spotted Lily who was blanking her, Fiona forced back the tears and moved over to sit with Sirius.
"Morning" she said sulkily.

Dani moaned and lay a few minutes in bed before getting up, dressing, and walking down to breakfast. She saw Sirius, Fiona, and Lily at the table. She walked a few seats down to avoid them, number one, she noticed that Sirius wasn't in a great mood; number two, she didn't want to get caught in the Fiona/Lily crossfire. She sat down and reached for some orange juice, hoping Sirius wasn't looking at her, for she was turning pink with the mere thought of him.

<i>Shoot</i>, she thought to herself as she put down her goblet. <i>I</i> CAN'T BELIEVE <i>I actually said</i> anything<i> to him! Am I STUPID?! Now it'll be all weird between us and he'll find more things to poke fun at me about. I'm SUCH a dopehead.</i> She put her cheek in her hand and began to eat her bacon. <i>Fantastic</i>, her thoughts continued, <i>The Ball is TOMORROW NIGHT and I'm still dateless. Unbelieveable. Well, at least it's Friday. Tomorrow, I'll have the dorm</i> all to myself. She smiled at the thought. PRIVACY. Solitude. She had been so social these past few months that quiet time was starting to sound VERY APPEALING. Or, rather, alone time to listen to her music. She looked down at her plate and continued to pick at her food. <i>So what if I didn't get to go to the ball with Sirius Black? There are other, more important things in life,</i> she told herself, trying to cover up the fact that she was sad. She sighed.

Lily glanced at Fiona and felt a bit of guilt as she asw that she was crying.

I overdid it, she thught,I shouldn't have overreacted! Oh, how I wish I was going to the ball with Jam-Potter tomorrow and nothing had happened. Does he really like her instead of me?

She felt a tear run down her cheek and she wiped it away, fiercley.

Fiona looked up as Sirius sat down, she smiled as she quickly wiped away the tears that had slowly formed and rolled down her cheeks.
"Morning" she said to him, he grunted in reply, only to look up when he saw Danni enter.
He studied her for a moment before finishing his breakfast and leaving the hall without a backward glance at Fiona.

Dani looked up as Sirius left quite abruptly. For some reason, she felt like he needed to be around someone...why the hell was it that she flet so compelled to follow him nowadays?!...she got up and followed him out of the Great Hall. Outside, it was relatively empty, and she hurried to catch up with him. "Hey," she said, bracing herself for a good thrashing.

Sirius looked round only to come face to face with the least person he wanted to see at that moment - Danni.
He turned away sighing and carried on walking to his lesson, hoping that the silent treament would work and she would disapear so he could get his thoughts in order.

Dani stared at him as he walked away, torn between scowling and staring with an open mouth. A part of her wanted to chase after him, punch him, and demand that he tell her what was wrong; another part wanted to run away in the other direction and never see him again; part another wanted to run up to her dormitory and burst into tears; and another part of her wanted to grab his elbow, turn him around, and kiss him. However, her rationality took over. She stared a moment longer as he walked away, recognizing a lost battle when she saw one, sighed, and walked away. She found an empty corridor, dropped her bag, leaned against the wall, and slid down so that she was sitting cross-armed. She looked at the ceiling. <i>I hate socialization,</i> she thought to herself. <i>No wonder I had a swearing-off of guys rule when I was fourteen...I had the right idea.</i> She had a habit of trying to harden her heart against pain when she was in danger of feeling it.

Sirius looked round again and saw that Danni had left, he was gratefull in a way, but then the guilt started to settle in.
He was harsh back there and he knew it, he shook his head a confusion of feelings reeling through his body.
"What have i done?" he muttered

Dani managed to keep her eyes and face dry, and heart cold. She stood up, grabbed her bag, and walked to her Transfiguration lesson. She was almost certain that if someone was to look into her eyes, no matter how chocolate brown they were, they would almost see ice. She looked up and saw Sirius looking at her. She gave him a second's stare with a raised eyebrow as if to say, 'Yes?' Then sat down.
