She blinked, completely dumbfounded with this woman. Deciding against diverging into another long and useless debate, she answered sweetly.

" So that I may become acquianted with the area, other purposes I have are that of my own; forgive me for not being so open to trust as you."

Chance could not help but to laugh; both of them were exquisitely and profoundly deft at annoying one another, and yet neither could see both ends of their argument. He made little attempt to hide his humor, for his amusement was not often able to be discouraged, regardless of the situation. If neither of them could find their exchange funny, it was to their loss.

Cat grins at Chance and winks at him, then looks back at Jaquelin, smiling at her dumbfounded look. "Precisely why I won't give you one..... Why should I let you see the area of my domain?.... I told you what you needed to know to trust me as much as possible, but I don't trust any of you as of yet, since none of you have given me anything to trust..."

Cat sighs exasperatedly. "Look, I'm a noble... I own this part of the land... Yes, it is the King's land, but I own this piece that you are about to be on...." She smiles slightly. "I'm afraid I can't let you out, not yet anyways....Besies, you'll have to wait to get to my estate before you can get a map...."

" You'll let me out now or I'll jump out!" She glared indignantly at Cat, sitting up in her seat. At this point she had disregarded the fact that she had never been to this country...that she did not know one in three infants died within their first year of life and that most who did live rarely made it to twenty. Fourty was old. England was racked by the fear of disease, and they had good reason to.

Jacquelin shifted her gaze over to Chance; her eyes ablaze with a blue fire, feeling like a caged animal.

-Right. Although not that he would be surprised if Cat did end up betraying them...Lol.-

He felt that now was not a good time to extend the amusement over to tension...The half-played smile slipped from his face as he watched Jacquelin, knowing how she must feel.
"Jacquelin," he said quietly, "Please don't worry. I don't think Catalina's intentions could be that horrible, and I'm sure she'll be happy to give you a map once we reach her home." He looked somewhat pointedly at Cat, smiling all the same.
