We have an Arwen Appreciation Thread, but not one for Eowyn. So I decided to start one.
Please, please, PLEASE! This is an Eowyn Appreciation Thread, not an Eowyn hate thread. Friendly disscusions are welcome, but please dont start with the Arwen rules Eowyn drolls kindergarten stuff. Its reallyannoying when you are trying to have a conversation, and people randomly break in an start dissing people and their views... ok, I'm done....
so guess what everyone! I LOVE EOWYN!!!!!!

Lol , i guess it's about time one came up for eowyn. She's a beautiful woman, both in the movie and book. I love it how she's got that 'girls can kick butt' attitude.

Sounds good!
Eowyn is a great character. One of my favorites, both in the book and the movie.

Yes, Eowyn is a great character, very down-to-earth, and yet very much not so. She's a woman trapped in a tough time with war tearing apart her world, frustrated, and yet manages to get through it all---in triumph.

I love what she says about fearing a cage. I could have said that. She's one of my favourite characters.

Yes, it seems a lot of people can relate to her. She's a very real character, but also a great 'role model', I suppose.

Let me just say Eowyn is way better then Arwen. Sure she isn't so photogenic but hey, it isn't Arwen whose willing to get out there and do the dirty work now is it? (lol!)

I don't know is this counts as appreciation but I was wondering on your oppinions on this : Did Eowyn go to war with the intention of dying in battle and if so, why did she want to die?

Ok, Here is what I think. Alot of people would say, Yes, she went to war to die. I cant completely disagree. I dont think she reallywanted to die. But she figured, I will go, if I die, whatever, but if I dont, Maybe things will be better because I will be equal to the men, and also, I would have helped save my people.
hope that makes sence

But would Arwen be allowed to go out and fight? I mean she has such a controlling father and I doubt Aragorn would be to happy if his precious Arwen died
I do love Eowyn though, she's a great and very stong character who seems to struggle to find her place in Middle Earth. Go Eowyn!

I like her when she kills Witch King because that was something unexpected for me nazgul to be killed by no man. I have never seen such a strong woman character in most of the movies.

Thats true, you dont see many women that strong. But again, that adds to the beauty of Tolkiens writing. "Back then" (Hate that phrase) When Tolkien wrote LOTR, women where quiet and neet and tidy, and there to serve. And Eowyn was the total oposit of the women that were in tolkiens acctual world.
