we just finished studying the Middle East, and now we're going into Africa... what ticks me off is that we studied Europe last year and we didn't go into detail at all. our teacher's big on religion. Mesopotamia=Garden of Eden and that stuff.

i'm not sure if i mentioned this before, but i went to a concentration xamp in lithuania. it was horrible - absolute silence, no birds or anything, and there was a wall where everyone had scratched their names in. the beds ere just wooden planks on the floor. i can hnestly say it was the worst place i've ever been. horrible.

From Wikipedia:
The earliest reasonably accurate clocks are the 13th century tower clocks probably developed for (and perhaps by) monks in Northern Italy. These were used to announce the canonical hours or intervals between set times of prayer. Canonical hours differ in length, and varied as the times of sunrise and sunset shifted.
