Barbossa grins, his blackened teeth glimmering cruelly. "'Course it ain't smellin' right, 'cause I ain't Cap'n!.... Now, if Jack said he'd share ev'rythin', an' he hasn't..... 'Cause he ain't shared where the treasure is!!..... How d'we know he ain't leadin' us to our deaths?!...." He waits a moment, to hear their answers to his pronouncement.....

"Because Jack Sparrow is good man," Bootstrap interjected from the back of the room. "He's the best cartographer I know, and if Jack says we're goin' to Isla de Muerta, to Isla de Muerta we're goin'. You'd want to have your secrets if you were the captain, which I feel compelled to remind you you're not." He leaned up against one of the supporting beams. "Give it another day or two, Mister Barbossa, and I guarantee we'll be lookin' at the shores of Isla de Muerta."

Jack finally blinked his eyes slowly open. A wooden black ceiling was the only thing he could see at the moment. He coughed and squinted his eyes as there was an odd sort of silence througout the ship. Where was everybody? He stretched out his arms and legs and with a crack of his back he straightened himself out of the chair. "Pintel? Bootstrap? Ragetti?...anybody?" He peeked around a corner, "Hello?", but there was no one there...

Barbossa shrugged, seemingly at a loss for words. He turned his back to them and leaned on the table. "Well, alright.... But Jack said ev'rythin' was a fair share.... But it's not... The stingy ol' codger's keepin' the way to Isla de Muerta a secret, like he thinks that only he can get us there.... Insolent braggart...."

A murmur of doubt began to spread through the crew. Could this man be on to something?
"'S true," Pintel pointed out, not so much addressing the others as thinking out loud. "Th' Cap'n does keep to 'imself a lot...Think 'e's hidin' somethin'?"
Bootstrap frowned in disgust. "I can't believe all of you!" he exclaimed. "All it takes is one man to turn you against Jack? He's our captain! Every one of you -including you, Barbossa- signed Articles swearing your allegiance to him. Don't tell me that you're going to start doubting him just because one man shows up and starts complaining? He's been here all of a day!"

Jack frowned as he came to the upper deck and walked up the creeky black steps. "Hello?" He eyed the empty ship with a strange look in his eyes. "Where are ye blasted rats.." Something didn't feel right.

Before anyone could reply, Bootstrap stormed out of the galley, muttering oaths under his breath. Not watching where he was going, he strode quickly down the narrow hall until he bumped into someone. "Jack!" he exclaimed in surprise. "Thought you were taking a nap."

Jack whipped his body around and looked at Bootstrap, "Well, I was...now I'm not.." He frowned his eyebrows at him then glanced at his face, "Ye look sick. What's the matter with ye man? And where in this bloody ship is everbody?"

"I'm fine," Bootstrap said, waving his hand dismissively. "...Everybody else? Well, they're...uh...they're in the galley...having a drink. In fact, I think I'll get one myself." Grinning nervously, he turned around and hurried back to the galley. "Jack's coming!" he hissed, sticking his head in the door. "Might want to belay any further discussion 'til later...Or better yet: forget it all together."

Jack took a step in a few seconds after Bootstrap stuck his head inside the door. "Someone said ye are having some.." He stopped, he notices the eerie silence and the awkward faces some of the crew members were pulling towards him, "drinks..?" His voice fell to a low whisper.
