True true. Ya know I think it was the dumbest thing for Japan to bomb Pearl Harbor and not expect us to do anything. *shakes head* I know that has nothing to do with England but I just thought I'd throw that in lol.
Another thing I was talking to my dad about was a theroy behind why we droped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (sp). He said he read somewhere that one of the reasons behind why we droped the a-bomb was because we knew we were going to have problems with Russia. It was our way of saying we've got them and we'll use them. I personally think it's any interesting theory and maybe that could have been one of the reasons behind it but who knows really.

In the end I think the war had two bad guys, USSR & Nazi Germany. Both from the political ends with radical actions, unfortunately what happened in middle earth didn`t happen in the real world. It is like Saruman was defeated and Sauron wasn`t(kinda fits) all tough they were never on the same side truly...
And Pearl Harbor... most of US pacific fleet was devestated, but I recall that the carriers were away during the attack so think what could have happened, if they had been there. US would have had a much more serious opponent than it had all tough it was bloody enough anyway

Ooh, are we discussing WWII? Unfortunatly we're not studying it in school right now, but I do know about it from previous studies and reading.
Most of my reading though is on the Holocuast, and is quite depressing...

Hey guys, I love history.
Just to ask, do you guys think it was foolish for the U.S. to move out the Navy from Califlornia to Pearl Harbor? I mean, there is no wonder why the Japanesse attacked, it was really an agressive move against them.

well actually the attack is kinda USA`s own fault, USA threatened Japan with an ending of trade from the americas to Japan(or something like that) unless they moved out of China...
and sure

hmm, i'll post as well
I got a B in my history exam about Henry VII - go me!!!
I just read animal farm, it was really interesting - its an allegory about the Russian Revolution thing, when the communists took over. ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, but some are more equal than others. Napoleon is supposed to be Stalin, and Snowball is the other guy, and its a really good book. Stalin was horrible to the other guy, betraying him like that and then blaming him for everything. Actually, the Napoleon character is horrible anyway, because he ends up becoming as human as the humans that his regime originally renounced.
^gee that was a lot - just trying to say something useful :/

Hah, no problem Curi
Dok, I read that book last year, and animals aren't all equal. I mean technically they are.. well actually it depends what you consider equal. Like on a farm, the younger, stronger animals will be better than weaker elders simply because they can do work the elders can't. And animals used for burden are thought better than those used as food. I'm not sure what I just said.. eh..
Oh, advisory NEVER watch the Animal Farm movie, Napolean has to be the scariest pig I have ever seen!

I had a weird teacher make me watch that Animal Farm movie. I hated every blessed second of it. I hated the book too. I think the russian revolution is a thousand times more interesting than its ficticious barnyard counterpart. Yuck.

I watched Animal Farm too, not the cartoon version, it was actually somewhat amusing.
You guys heard of David Irving and how he believed that the gas chambers at Auschwitz did not exist, he was tried? Or how the president of Iran wants Moscow wiped off the map and that's why the US doesn't want them to build nuclear weapons and plants?
My teachers got a copy of Mien Kampf (My Struggle) by Hitler, I want to check it out. I also got David Irvings book "Hitler's War", just to see his perspective on the Holucaust.

I think the attack on Pearl Harbor was a lasp in the Japanese army's judgement. I mean how could they think we would just let them bomb our navy and not do anything? I know we were in "nuetrality", I put that in quotes because we were sending aide the allies, but I mean come on, it's stupid to think that you can bomb a country and think they are just going to sit back and go oh well to bad for us, better luck next year Pearl Harbor. @_@. It was also stupid for Hitler to declare war on the U.S. when we were still neutral. He should have known that a new batch of fresh soliders would have caused him more problems than it was worth. And it did, He lost the war, although it was actually the soviets who got to Berlin first.
Oh interesting fact I learned today about Hitler before WWII. He actually signed a peace agreement with Stalin, even though he hated the communist. He thought he could sign a treaty sancitoning off sections of Poland, and maybe some other eastern european countries, to Germany and Russia, and then he could eventually take Russa over. Funny thing is Stalin thought the same thing about Germany.

Quote: I think the attack on Pearl Harbor was a lasp in the Japanese army's judgement. I mean how could they think we would just let them bomb our navy and not do anything? That's right. It was the attack on Pearl Harbor that brought us into the war. The US was neutral before that. Quote: Oh interesting fact I learned today about Hitler before WWII. Yeah, he signed the pact not to declare war on one another, but he later broke it. Hilter was Fascist and Stalin was Communist. He wanted to sancitonate off parts of Poland so he could build the concentration camps there.
