Yrudit's ears detected a faint scratching noise ahead. The Soulreaper halted. One black-robed hand shot out to stop them.
"A spider?" Yrudit commented dryly.
The Soulreaper's grin was in no way reassuring. "Most likely you are correct."
That was when one pair of pincer-like mandibles launched itself in their direction. The giant arachnid scuttled around the corner, the jewels on Yrudit's sabre reflecting off its glittering eyes. Its great bloated body took up the entire tunnel as it eased itself forward, hissing quietly.
When Yrudit next turned around, the Soulreaper was gone.

Mirima, her keen Elvish eyes constantly alert in the darkness, saw the imminent danger before the others. "Get back, or stand and fight! This is a trap!" She yelled, brandishing her sword fiercely. Her eyes glared at the beast in anger. "Return from whence you came, vile creature of the night, or live not to see the morning!"

Narion heard the large spider, and knowing that it was just a spider, she leaned against the wall of the tunnel. "Hey little guy," she said quietly to the spider on her hand. "You want to go see your mom?" She put him onto the ground and smiled slightly as he scuttled up and over the larger one.
(the big spider can still be evil, i just wanted to let the spider go)

Rumour had been watching the group, inspecting each one with her eyes and senses, when all of a sudden, Yrudit, the lizardman, turned and went to the door. She frowned. This wasn't what she wanted. When Yrudit opened the door to show a cloaked and hooded man that exuded an evil presence, she disliked the situation even more. With a hiss of annoyance, she faded into a black cloud and drifted upwards.....
Rumour watched as the ones she had just been about to 'enlist' followed someone else. Anger and resentment crawled up her spine and settled in the back of her thoughts. "This thing had to be taken care of.... It's spoiling what I have gathered...."
Without changing form, the black cloud slithered out the door, following the group. When the spider rose up in front of the ones on the ground and the 'Soulreaper' vanished, a smile spread across Rumour's pale face, but didn't like her onyx eyes.
As the others warily watch the spider, Rumour drifts above the creature and hangs there for a moment, studying it. Then, without warning, her form coalesces and drops down on top of the spider's abdomen, just behind the cephalothorax.
Rumour's face shows perfect joy as the twin scimitars strapped to her back are unsheathed and driven straight into the back of the arachnid's ugly head and through its brain....
