Ah, I saw that part while I was watching TTT, this morning, in fact.
I kept rewinding the TV because I don't understand how he could have done it without knocking Gimli off the horse too. Do you think it was a stuntman?

Does anyone know if it's possible to do a computer generated Legolas? It seemed pretty real on screen, but it requires a lot of arm muscle if you ask me, if it's all totally real.

Yes it's possible; they did computer generated characters for a few scenes. Parts of the troll scene in FotR, and the wide shot of the fellowship running across the bridge of khazad dum (sp?) are the only ones I know for sure, but they probably did it for some other scenes.

Most of the parts of Legolas on the Mumakil in RotK were a computer generated Legolas and Mumakil.

Ah - I thought so. Some parts of Legolas I suspected were computer generated because all the movements looked a bit - jerky. And like the screen looks a bit different.

Oh yes - threads here always start out talking about the books, and then we drift off topic and talk about other things. We can't help it!!
Yes, a lot of things in TTT were put in the RotK movie because you know, in RotK, about half of it is made up of the story, the other half is all the Appendixes - so in truth, the RotK book is very short. To put it in proportion with everything else, the moviemakers had to balance it out and add some scenes from TTT to RotK to fill it up since RotK didn't have enough scenes.

I loved the apendecies at the end of ROTK.....they were quite interesting, telling what had happened to all the characters. Sam going in search of Frodo after Rosie had passed away. It kinda made it all real in some strange way.....i would like to think that it all happened somewhere else in the universe, on another planet. lol *ellie going a bit strange* lol

Er - since you read the Appendixes, can you tell me if there's a part that mentions Eowyn's and Faramir's son? I was told that it mentioned that somewhere, but I don't remember seeing it. If I had, surely I would've remembered it.
