I never really think about what the story's going to be like when I start writing. Usually, I let the story sort of 'write itself' if you want to say that.

Yeah, me too. It sucks when you have to write a story for school and they make you do the prewriting. I don't understand it. >.>

I never actually do that unless we have to hand the prewriting in for credit. But otherwise, I just start writing!

Yeah, me too. But I have to take the stupid CSAP (The Colorado standerdized test. Every student 3rd grade and up has to take it.), and you lose, like, half the points if there isn't prewriting.

That's just dumb. You know what really made me mad. In my state we have to take MCA writing test. But we already took the pre-test preparing for the real one which we take in 9th grade. 3 is the passing score.
We're given a prompt to write about and you just write. Well, guess what. I wrote a beautiful piece and made sure it wasn't bland, but I got a 2.5 on it. You know why, because I put 'too much into it'. The test basically is telling excellent writers to dumb down their writing. Does that sound fair? I hope not!
Ok, i'm terribly sorry. I just got that disappointing score back a week ago and I'm still angry about it.
Again, i'm really really sorry for whining all about myself.

hi! I'd like to join! I love writing!
here's some replies to stuff I noticed...
Gwenneth wrote: I was just going to ask...
Am I the only writer who constantly has trouble getting her thoughts down on paper? Like, I know I have talent, I was put a few grades ahead in my writing class, but whenever it comes to actually writing my ideas down, the glory of it is always shattered. It's so spectacular in my head, maybe I'll come up with some kind of fantasy story that's so good, but when I try to write it I end up really disappointed. So usually I just keep the ideas floating around in my head so that they can stay spectacular. I do the exact same thing!! That's so odd...because everyone says I'm an awesome writer, but my freewriting always seems so bad. In my head, though, it's very good. Gwenneth wrote: My parents really support the fact that I can write, and so they are always asking me what my latest story is about, but I really never like telling them! And I was thinking, when you write something, it's really you giving out a piece of your heart. The stories I write of love, adventure, and mystery, are things I hold so dear to my heart, that I would never, ever share them with anyone! When people critique my writing, it's like they're critiquing me, and what's special to me.
I feel that way as well...I've been obsessively hiding my work since I was really little. I make sure everything on the computer is password protected...I'm so freaky about it. I'll have to work up a lot of courage if I want to share stuff here.
people also mentioned notebook writing first (carry one everywhere!!) and then typing it in. I do that too...it must be a writer thing!
Here's some random writing facts about me!
-I'm writing a series. (well, it's more like 'envisioning'. I've only written a few chapters of the first out of nine books, but I know most of the storyline.)
-It is fantasy...I love fantasy
-When I'm not writing fantasy, it's realistic or historical fiction.
-I'm scared my fantasy series is a mix of LotR and Narnia...it has many of the same elements. (I think it's different of course, but I know my brain copies what it sees and I'm scraed it'll turn out to be nothing but a hybrid. Hopefully not!)
-I've been writing since I was about 5, when I copied down my own versions of Bible stories into picture books...I soon started making my own. Even when I was eight I wanted to write 'chapter books' even though I would get through about...um...the title page before ditching it for a new story.
-Have I mentioned I have a severe attention disorder when it comes to writing? I can't keep up the story for more than a year. I also always have about 5 I'm working on at the same time. I've been working really hard on this fantasy series though.
-Though my primary media is novels, I do poetry when I feel like it.
all I can think of for now!

That was quite a bio. And of course you may join!
Writing can be a weird passion for me. I'm in the middle of writing a series as well along with a lot of other ideas. Mine's fantasy too, except it's a whole different concept than yours.

That is really stupid. I remember I shared a story I had written with my English teacher, and she said it was bad because the descriptions were too flowery or something like that. It was a love story! I hate it when people are like that.
I'm about halfway through chapter 2 of my new story. It's working title is 2014, but think I want something better than that. I posted chapter 1 in the poetry/fanfiction forum, if anyone wants to read it.

If I get an idea for a story, I work out a few details in my head and write out the first chapter, so I won't forget it. lol

^ I get real embarrassed when my parents ask me about my writing because I never know what they're going to think.
And welcome Eldárwen. All writers are welcome.

Welcome Eldárwen!
I just got an idea for a new story last night. My dad and I were talking about presidents getting murdered, then we somehow got onto time travel, then I got this idea that was totally unrelated. o_0
Anyho, it's going to be about a man who's stuck between waking and dreaming. He never really knows what's real and what isn't, because somehow the line between the real world and the dream world has become blurred. He never really sleeps anymore because he's always awake in one world. I'm thinking that at first the dreams won't be all that different, like people he knows have subtle differences about them (different hair color, etc), but hs starts having nightmares, and the nightmares merge into both worlds. I'm going to leave it up to the readers wheather or not he's really stuck between the worlds, or if he's just decending into madness.

Wow!!! I really like that idea!
My latest fantasy is about my version of what would become of the human race if the world were to end! The main characters are teens living in this after life of the world where there are different tribes of people who survived after 'the apocolypse' I guess. And some of these teens have been given "gifts" to restore the world back to its original peace. I'm planning to have them discover that it was the hatred of all the humans that actually destroyed the world and they'll be able to fix it by showing that love still exsists!

That sounds like an awesome idea, Fool of a Took! I'd love to read some of it, if you write some. That's a cool idea too, Itarildë.
I'm kinda shy about sharing my ideas on here. I trust all you guys (girls), but I'm sorta paranoid about someone just looking around on the internet and finding my story idea and stealing it! Aaaah! lol
