This rp is based on an idea I'm using to write a novel, and I just thought I'd make an rp about it. And anyway, here's the plot:
The world of Ivraen is in dire trouble. Durzhum, self-proclaimed Lord of Shadow, is amassing an army, one consisting of Shadow Elves, Humans and Dragons, as well as Goblins, Dheumain, Din'ai, Vrini, and Wul'ghirs. This army is growing daily, and it is being used to prepare a strike against the forces of the Light. The goal: total destruction. The numbers of the Light are small compared to the Shadow, and if sufficient defenses aren't raised by the time of the first strike of the Shadow, the Light is certainly doomed...but there is hope. An ancient prophecy is coming to pass, one that states that a Guardian will rise to rally the forces of the Light in defense against the Shadow. The Shadow is seeking for this prophecied Guardian diligently, and if caught, the Guardian is in serious trouble.

Personality: Quiet, withdrawn, passive, though later learns to be outspoken.
History: Unknown, all that is known is that she was supposedly orphaned at a very young age, and was then taken to the village of Moril, where she was raised by a innkeeper.

Heh..ok, here's all the other stuff that you'd need to know to get started.

The Magic system:

The Elemental Powers are Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Spirit. Those gifted with these powers are born with them, and they usually manifest during the teen years. One is only usually able to control two or three of the elements, though there are a rare group that can control all five. If the person is not trained after the abilities manifest themselves, the powers remain very weak, and usually, the abilities disappear. With the proper training, one can become very adept in controlling the elements.

The Essences are Light and Shadow. These two 'powers' are synonimous with the Elemental Powers, since one who can control one or more elements is usually able to control either the Light or the Shadow, and in extremely rare cases, both.

Wul'ghirs: A crossbreed between a wolf and a tiger. Claws and teeth of a tiger, head, snout, and tail of a wolf, usually has black mottled fur and blood red eyes.
Vrini: A crossbreed between a pegasus and a unicorn, though twisted to the Shadow. Four scaled wings and scaly skin, and a jagged horn jutting from the forehead.
Din'ai: A twisted faery. Wings like that of a bat or dragon, and unnaturally pale skin. Has the otherwise normal hair and eye color of a faery.

Appearance: She has long smoky brown hair. She has eyes that are amber in color, but turn black when she uses the elements. She has pale rose colored lips and a purple tint to her eye lids. She is slender and nimble.
Personality: She is a take charge sort of person. But she has been drilled to think before she acts, so she has become more wary of her actions.
History: She grew up in Tzirm and her elemental talents of fire and earth were discovered and she was trained. She is now expected to pay back Durzhum for her training to help in his war.

(Lol, thanks, I've put a lot of work into it, and it's good to hear that it sounds interesting to someone besides me. And now, I think we can start..we'll be starting out in Moril, though probably moving on quickly.)
In the small village of Moril, deep in the forests of Drumai, silence reigned. It was just before dawn, and the entire village was asleep, except for one figure who was walking the main street, shrouded in a heavy cloak. The figure walked along with head lowered, as if deep in thought, though at the sound of hoofbeats in the nearby trees, the figure looked up sharply, hood falling back to reveal a girl with long red hair, green eyes, and slightly pointed ears. She reached under her cloak, where a small dagger was hidden, and she just kept her hand there, looking towards the trees silently.

(Cue whoever..)

Dressed fully in black she waited atop a forest tree. Enshrouded by both nightfall and branches. She watched her amber eyes keen as a lone figure walked on the path. When hoofbeats sounded, the figure's hood feel back to reveal a girl who had some striking similarities to the woman in the tree herself.
Half breed Aadi thought curiously. She shifted slightly to see if the mysterious horse would appear.

As the hoofbeats grew louder, the girl drew her dagger and held it before her, waiting, barely daring to breathe. (It's actually a Vrini that's causing the hoofbeats, it just hasn't decided to come out..)

(Okie-dokie, just wanted to make sure.)

Aadi's ears picked up a faint scratching against the bark of a tree. So it wasn't a horse, it had scales. And the only thing with both hooves and scales was a Vrini. Ghastly creatures they were, but they were easy enough to tame and loyal to boot.
Moving her attention back to the flaming haired girl, she watching her with her dagger, standing there waiting. She's got nerve, that's for sure. Mind flicking to her assignment like many others of shadow, to find the illustrious Guadrian as soon as possible, briefly entertained the idea that the girl could be it. She brushed the thought aside as quickly. She was letting her mind wander.

A few more tense minutes passed, and Rienwyn continuned standing there, dagger held in a white-knuckled grip. Stop being an idiot, just turn and go back home.. a voice in her head told her scornfully, though she quickly silenced it as the Vrini finally came into view. "By the Maker.." she breathed, letting the dagger fall from a now-nerveless grip. She'd only heard tales and stories of creatures like this, and they all painted the Vrini as just mutated unicorn/pegasi mixtures...but this..this was more like a dragon mixed with the pegasi and unicorn. As soon as the Vrini turned its red-eyed gaze on her, Rienwyn felt her knees give way, and a sharp jolt was the only thing that told her she had fallen to her knees, since her gaze was still locked with that of the Vrini.

Elegost was walking really fast since the weather is cold tonight. Surrounded by his hood Elegost's face was hardly seen. The night was so restless that there was too much voice in it. Actually the hoofbeats made him crazy as Elegost approached to the unknown sound. Saw a shade under the tree. He believed that this must be the thing which does it.

She watched the girl fall to her knees after she saw the Vrini. Humans she thought sligtly distasteful, they can be so faint hearted. Wait until they meet a Wul'ghirs. She saw the dagger fall from a frightened hand leaving the girl defenseless before the Vrini. And I thought her the Guardian, she thought roguishly. Her fingers twitched a bit of raven fringe from her eyes, as she waited to see what would happen next.

Get up! the thought screamed in her head. Get up NOW! It'll kill you! Before she could think or do anything else, the Vrini had begun moving towards her, head, and jagged horn, lowered menacingly. Just as it stopped several feet away and had prepared to strike, several arrows suddenly flew out of the trees and struck the creature in the side(it's only weak spot), just below the two wing joints, and it gave a loud, shrill shriek, before falling over, thrashing. Rienwyn backed up, though she got kicked a couple times by the Vrini, and she winced and picked up her dagger again, then sheathed it and looked towards where the arrows had come from.
