Evelyn had to bite her lip to prevent it from spreading into a smile, but the sides of her mouth betrayed her. She smiled and laughed. "Well, whatever you do, I'm not joining you," she said, walking up the beach and away from the surf.

"Who said anything about everyone else?" Lucy asked suddenly, pulling off her own shoes and socks. "It's too hot out here to just sit on the beach!" she said, before starting down the beach and getting in the water up to her waist.

Lucy said something to Felicity in a low voice and Felicity laughed, then the two went under at the same time, and emerged quite a good distance from the beach.
