Ok, so I know I said I wouldn't come back in here unless my friend Frodolyn did, but I need your advice... So here's the stroy: For my b-day, we planned on seeing Slither, but went to V For Vendetta instead (not that I'm complaining). She'd been REALLY excited about seeing Slither, and had been saying in the car that on one of the Firefly sites she goes to, they have this poster thing promoting Slither that says "Support our Captain", or something like that. But now, all of a sudden, she doesn't wanna go! I've been telling her that it's her duty (because it is as the crazy Browncoat she is), but she doesn't wanna go! So, I was just wondering, and this is mainly for the HARD-CORE fans (you know who you are): Is is her duty to see Slither for her Captain or not?

Of course it is.
Nah seriously, if she doesn't think the movie's for her, she's under no obligation to go see it.

I've finally started watching Firefly (3 episodes left...) and I absolutely love it. Joss Whedon has done it again. And unlike Buffy and Angel, this show was amazing right off the bat and every episode is strong. No fillers. All the episodes touching, hilarious, intelligent, and filmed beautifully. Unbelievable that this series only lasted 13 episodes.
This is the only Sci-fi series or movie I have ever liked. I never understood the appeal of Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica etc. Anything set in space or set in the future I just didn't like. And Firefly, basically a Western in Space in no way appealed to me to begin with. But I love it because it's so unlike any sci-fi I've seen before.
My favourite character would have to be Mal, and I never usually like the main character of a show very much. Usually they're too much of everything and don't have a personality as distinct as the secondary characters. Mal, on the other hand, is portrayed excellently by Nathan Fillion and is incredibly distinct and likable.

Hahah I should have found this thread earlier... I LOVE Firefly! The humour has got to be the best and the cunningest, and the show itself is just pure awesome *loves*

Apparently Sci-Fi was having a Firefly marathon yesterday and I missed everything but "Objects In Space." Even so, it has some of my all time favorite lines...
Wash: Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction.
Zoë: We live in a spaceship, dear.
Wash: So?
Jayne: What, are you— are you sayin' she's a witch?
Wash: Yes, Jayne. She's a witch. She has had congress with the beast.
Jayne: She's in Congress?
Wash: How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious.
Wash: Little River gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?
Zoe: Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. Its a toss-up
Wash: I hope she does the soup thing, it's always a hoot and we don't all die from it.
My Wash obsession is definitely coming back.

Oh man, so I just started watching this show yesterday (my brother owns the whole series) and it is AMAZING! I haven't seen all of the episodes yet, but they've been awesome so far. I love all the characters too..most shows can't get me to do that. GREAT quotes in there, too.
Shepherd: You will be sent to the very special place in hell. The one they reserve for child molesters. And people who talk in the theater.

Ahhh.......I just watched Serenity. River was awesome in that. But augh! I NEED TO KNOW Shepherd's past. How does he know so much? Argh! Very frustrating.
Though I now have seen all the episodes. I loved "Objects in Space." The bounty hunter in that was awesome. So odd.
River: Also, I can kill you with my mind.
That line cracked me up.

I know, I'm never quiet either. I really wanted to say that line to my friend when we were talking during a movie, but she hadn't seen the series at that point. Sadly. But we're all good now.
Anyone else seen the youtube clip of Adam Baldwin singing "The Hero of Canton"? It's pretty great. I love that guy, seriously.

My god, I just love this show! Everytime I watch an episode, I curse Fox for shutting this show down. I really loved the characters but in particular, the Tams. They were so awesome. But Mal is awesome. Kaylee makes me laugh and smile. So does Jayne. Favourite lines.....
Book: What are we up to, sweetheart?
River: Fixing your bible.
Book: I, um, what?
River: Just keep walking, shepherd-man
Blehh, so many good lines.
