If you had a choice, would you choose to be imortal, or mortal? Please consider carefully before answering. Its really not as simple a question as you might think

At first, being immortal seems like the best way to go. But through reading Tolkien's views, I do believe that mortality is a "gift to men". We live for a very short time on earth, and every moment should be lived to the fullest, as it could be our last. Yet to be immortal, never to die, with no goal, no finish line...wow.
It would be cool to live for a long time, but honestly, I think I would eventually get bored, just like the Elves did.
It's definitely something to think about!

I choose mortal. I think that knowing I'm going to die, it'd make me want to live more and experience more, instead of if I knew I was going to live forever, it'd be like "Oh well, I've got the rest of forever, I'll wait to do that." Also, I expect it would get a little boring to live forever. Another reason, if I was immortal and my friends and family weren't, it'd be so sad to watch them all die while I don't get any older. Also, with marrying, would I avoid it because whoever I marry is going to get older and die, while I've hardly aged at all?
I know that immortality has it's advantages too, but if I had the choice, I think I'd choose to be mortal.

mortal life...for the reason Arwen chose it (on the movies anyways) I would rather share one lifetime with the people I love than eternity alone..being immortal would not make you apreciate(sp?) life so much..when you know you're eventually gonna die you're forced to live life to the fullest

well...*cough* I would probably chose immortal. Not just because of the whole "I wanna never die!" Thing, but because with so much time I'd be able to accomplish a lot. I'd be able to see a lot, and have tons of experience. You could keep going for a long time...
However, you might be completely alone if you are immortal...how awful to be surrounded by people you knew you would have to watch die someday! You'd probably end up seperating yourself and not making close friends anymore. *sigh*
I'd really is a complicated decision.
However, I do not fear death and am quite happy with the mortal life I have. Besides, I believe I will live forever in heaven anyway, but I'd rather not get into that discussion...

Voted mortal. I don't think I'd have enough worth doing to live forever. Although eternal youth would be kinda cool...

I'd choose mortality
I don't mind death, decaying is something which I suppose signifies the fact that you lived a full life.

Yea, I read Tuck everlasting.
It wouod be cool to have a long life, like Aragorn and all. 190 years. Some longer then that.
I agree with you Galasriniel. I am not really scared of dying. But I wouldnt want to die now. I wouldnt be scared of dying right now, but I dont want to. there are so many things that want to experiance in life that I cant now. Like drive.... LMAO, sory guys, I relized this morning that i can take Drivers Ed In a month... exited! Anywho, Has anyone seen sisterhood of the traveling pants. i love what Bailey says in that *runs off to find quote*
Ah i cant find it! oh well. She says she isnt scared of dying, She is scared of the time she will lose. I really like that quote.

I chose mortal too because I think one life is enough for me. There is so much suffering - and to be put through that for eternity would be to much. Although death is scary, I would rather face my fear then live forever.

Mortal is better because you know when to end your life.
