The spoke for a while and then Melissa came running back to them. "The paramedics say it looks bad. Tey give her a 50:50 chance at the most. Why did I have to be so selfish?" she cried, sobbing onto the pavement as they loaded Lily onto the ambulence.

Melissa wandered home, her eyes fixated on the pavement. I've murdered Lilly was all she could think as she bashed into people and mumbled sorry as she walked. She got in, refusing to answer her mum as she asked her what was the matter, sat on her bed and cried.

Rick went to Melissa's to calm her down, and told her mother what had happened. He eventually got her to come with the hospital with him and they got there just as the ambulance was unloading Lily.

(Ok, I'll do a little commentary now.)

The medical team took Lily in to resus and showed Ella to the retatives room. They looked at Lily's injuries and three house later they had established that she had three broken ribs and a broken ankle. She had no internal bleeding which was incredibly lucky and no spinal or neck injuries. She was brused and had been sedated for a while to give her extra rest. One of the medical staff came out to the relatives room where the group of firends were waiting for news. (Ella, Rick, Scott, Jenna, Melissa, Nick...That's it, right?)

Ella was curled up on the sofa looking down at the floor, she looked up as someone came in, "How is she?" she asked quietly

As the nurse: "She's got a broken ankle and three broken ribs. We can't do anything about the ribs, they havve to heal themselves and the ankle will be put in plaster tomorrow morning - it's in a splint at the moment. Have you called her parents?" She asked to no one imparticular. The one girl looked so simialr in the face to the young girl in the hospital bed.
