I would love it if he had to sacrifice himself to kill Voldemort. Like Tar-Vanimelde said it about Frodo and the Pevensies, it just makes it that much more meaningful. But, somehow I just get the feeling that she wouldn't end it that way... but I sure hope she does.

Er... I don' t think it would be right at all if Harry had to die to kill Voldemort. That'd seem like a complete waste to me...
Btw, here's an interesting little tid bit of information on Voldemort's name that I found.
Vol-de-mort: French origin, meaning "flight of death" or "theft of death".

That is interesting, but how can you say it would be a waste if both Harry and Voldy died? Is sacrificing oneself for the good of all mankind a waste? 8)
Oh, and I assume all of you have seen the Potter Puppet Pals clips?

Nearly all of the spells have french or latin origins. This iste is a dictionary of the spells and has all their meanings:

Hey, that's a pretty neat link! Thanks Rowan!
Tar-Vanimelde wrote: That is interesting, but how can you say it would be a waste if both Harry and Voldy died? Is sacrificing oneself for the good of all mankind a waste? No, I don't think sacrificing oneself for the good of mankind is bad at all. I'm just saying that I think it is highly unlikely that JKR will decide to kill both Harry and Voldy in the end. I'm sure there will be other sufficient deaths though. Haldir o Lórien wrote: parlez-vous le français d'habitude?

Sufficient deaths. Ha ha ha ha!!! Yes!!! *cough* Well, maybe they'll (meaning Voldie and Harry) will end up kill practically everyone...and come to a truce and join together to stop Snape and Hermione and Neville and Draco.
You know, I just had a thought....the prophecy says that one of them can't live while the other does...(or whatever)...but, they ARE both alive. I mean, Voldie never really died. I mean, he's some regurgitated version of himself...kind of...but he's still alive, and so is Harry. So, that basically defeats the prophecy. They're both alive...and living...and have been living. Hmmm...don't know if I'm making any sense.

I see what you're saying. And yeah, you're right, but I think the prophecy means neither can live at rest while the other survives.

Yes, it's a good point, but I think that it means that they can't stay like that forever. Because their thoughts kind of keep crossing too, if you know what I mean... so I think it means they just can't live.... right if that makes any sense.

You all have good points, and I completely agree.
The prophecy is definitely referring to the fact that neither can rest till the other is dead [or both of them are, though I hate to admit it], instead of the literal meaning of they should be dead because they can't be living while the other survives.

Hmmmpphh. Why can't anything just be straight forward with these damn books! Ha ha ha. Maybe they'll spontaneously combust. Both of them. Ha ha ha. But I see what you mean. And I've been thinking about it...and I realized, that if one of them dies, no matter how much they say they will be rejoicing, I think a part of them will be gone. So, they won't ever really be whole...Harry at least. Does that make any sense? I mean, we all know there's some connection between the two, but if one of them dies, what effect will that have on the other? And will that really mean that they'll live in peace? And they might just be better off both dead, or both alive. Hmm....I've been procrastinating too much this weekend. Allows for too much deep thinking...ha ha ha.

I agree, but for differnet reasons, I've said before that I think Harry is one of voldemorts horcruxes, so neither will really be whole if part of their soul is missing.

Hmm. That's an interesting point. I think it would have to have some effect on the other when they die, for as others mentioned, they are kind of... connected.

Who said they might just spontaneously combust? Whoever it was, that's a totally brilliant idea. And if Harry is indeed one of Voldy's horcruxes, then doesn't that mean Harry has to kill himself for Voldy to die?
