After sometime Jarlaxle just clapped his hands with a smile.

"Well that was it, a shame really they seemed promising, but you know how the city works..."

Jarlaxle said as he stepped out of the shadows before a drow wielding two swords, the sword was caught into the chest of the mathron mother who`s eyes were widened. The dark blood of the drow woman glimmed terribly on the blade as she tried to say her last words to curse them both, Jarlaxle grinned as the warrior finnished the woman off by chopping her head off. The limb body fell to the floor and the warrior looked at Jarlaxle with a heavy breath.

"What are you doing here?" The drow asked with an irritated voice.

"Enjoying the show as always... not to mention I work for you Mathron, but that you knew already I guess... but this well... seems just too messy..."

"Afraid to get your hands dirty?"

"Of course, not, but not really my kind of attitude to spill their blood all over the floor..." Jarlaxle said smiling as he turned away.

After the ordeal, only seven students remained from the original fifteen. Drizzt experienced no small degree of pride to be counted among the seven. The two bite marks on his ebony skin, though swollen and hurting beyond feasibility, were the trophies - proof that he had survived his trial. And his intact sword hand proved beyond a doubt his fortitude.

"Drizzt Do'Urden!"

Drizzt started to attention and readily met the eyes of the master.

Master Baenre gestured for him to unsheathe his scimitars. "You will be dueling him." He gestured for another student, a son of House Fey-Branche, to rise.

Drizzt began to protest - a dull aching throb had spread to every fiber of his body, courtesy of spider venom. Hastily he snapped his mouth shut again.

"That's right!" the Baenre master barked. "Just because you have two pathetic spider markings doesn't mean you can't get up and fight!" He kicked the Fey-Branche, sending the boy stumbling on the floor before Drizzt. The drow snarled and whipped out his longsword.

"Show no mercy!" the master of Melee-Magthere cried exultantly as a crossbow dart whizzed in Drizzt's direction.

Drizzt batted it away with one flick of his scimitar. The other students, already catching the simmering fires in his lavender eyes, hastily gave ground. Drizzt's battle prowess was no secret among the Academy. Drizzt came in curved blades leading. He parried his opponent's first strike, then leapt to offense with abandon, all pain forgotten.

"Show no mercy," the master said in approval. "Victor chooses the fate of the loser." This was succeeded by a chorus of laughter from the audience.

Hearing this and thus incensed, the Fey-Branche came in faster, his fine blade singing through the air. But Drizzt was ever the defter, weaving his scimitars in an entrancing dance and finding one, no two openings in his adversary's defense. One scimitar went in to nick his enemy's hip. The other dove in for his chest.

The result found Drizzt standing triumphantly above the Fey-Branche, his blade poised above the other's heart. Elated and eager for his master's regard, he turned quickly to Master Baenre. All mention of spider bites had been forsaken in the rush of adrenaline.

The master of Melee-Magthere awarded his talented young student with a smile. "You are the victor," he reiterated smoothly. "Victor chooses loser's fate."

Drizzt cocked his head, confused. Ambiguitous shouts rose from the five student watchers.

"Kill him!"

"Give him to the priestesses!"

"Rip out his heart!"

Bewildered and wondering if this was some kind of joke, Drizzt turned back to Master Baenre for confirmation. The venomous throbs were beginning again. Obstinately he shook his head to clear the brief flashes of pain.

All he received from his superior was a nod of encouragement.

Jarlaxle walked trough the melee-magthere without being noticed by anyone as he passed right besides them, he arrived to a training room with shouts coming out from it. He leaned onto the wall quietly observng a young student that had been putten into a rather unpleasant situation or the other way around, some might hesitate, which would be seen as weakness and if he did kill the other one he would only be praised. Yet the young Do`Urden was hesitating and Jarlaxe couldn`t help smiling at this, the young one`s mother wouldn`t be pleased, if the young one didn`t finnish his opponents off.

Jarlaxle casually shrugged as he walked almost next to the master yet staying invisible.

Today I am writing a parchment, hoping that someday, someone will find it and remember me. My name is Miluiel Undomiel, elf and witch. I’ am 513 years old (in human reckoning) but I still have looks as if I were a teenage girl about the age of 16.
I have once lived in the forest of Lugarthren., along with my brothers and sisters.
At the age of 6 I began my training at Melee-Magthere with a dark elf by the name of Drizzt Do’Urden. We became friends from even the beginning of our training…but our differences didn’t bother the way we treated each other, inside we were just the same. Others who went to the school teased Drizzt and I just because we were best friends, but we stuck together no matter what happened to us.
So one day when we both graduated for Melee-Magthere to become higher ranks, Drizzt and I couldn’t stand being there with others who killed anyone just to be greater than the other. So we woke up early in the morning and had already gathered our things the night before and quietly slipped out of the School of Magic. We made it to the surface as the Bright full moon shown down upon us and we had to shield our eyes. We camped out under this big Rowan tree I am now sitting under which became our meeting place.
We would take turns on who would go gather the food and hunt while the other waited and watched the camp.
One day we both decided to go out to hunt and came upon a group of Dark elf’s who were searching for us. The have just set up there camp there to stay for the night…so we thought we had enough time to pack our things and run. We left early that day as soon as we got back to our hide out. I felt kind of sad about leaving that wonderful place…but know that our lives depended on it.
We keep on running day and night to gain ground between us and our hunters. On the Seventh night we had to stop and rest so we found a nice empty cave to stay in. Drizzt had also sent his best friend Guenhwyvar to see how far the Group of dark elves was from us. She had returned a few days later and here search proved that the dark elves had given up the search thinking that we were dead. Drizzt and I had to celebrate so we went out hunting and caught lots of game and had a great time together.
A bout a year later, Drizzt and I decided to go our own ways for a year, in search of what we wanted to do for our life, so we made an agreement that we would meet exactly on year form that day at the Rowan tree that was our first refuge that night of our grand escape. After we said our good bye that was the last I saw of Drizzt Do’Urden.
I have waited to see him again and made my home here in this forest close to the Rowan tree where we stayed and every year at that same date, I stop by the tree hoping and wishing that I would see him again…but I haven’t seen him for 12 years. I pray every night for his safety and that he will one day remember the way to the Rowan tree and there…I will be waiting.

Miluiel, probable the only one of her kind for hundreds of miles in any direction, locked her fingers behind her head and leaned back against the mossy blanket of the tree trunk.
She
was tall, even by the standards of her kind, with the sleekness of her long black locks of hair, barely cresting the four-foot mark, but her skin was very silky by her race.
She sat there for what seemed like an eternity until she saw a boy walking through the fog, then called out to him saying,
“Boy? Are you lost?”
“Yes and no. I am Alexander, and I have traveled for quite sometime now.”
He sat down besides me breathing heavy from his long journey. I quickly grabbed my pouch and pulled out a piece of dried meat for him to chew on, then handed it to him.
“Thanks…miss?” he smiled thankfully than quickly took a bit out of the meat. He must have been really hungry because before I even thought about it the meat was gone.
“Slow down there Alexander. There is plenty where that came form.” I explained to him with a gentle smile that seemed to calm his fearful spirit.
“Thanks miss. You have been very kind to me…but may I have your name so if we meet up again I can’t give you kindness in return for that kindness you have shown me?”
He asked with his bright green eyes that shown like emeralds.
“My name is Miluiel Undomiel.” I mentioned with power to the sound of my voice. He nodded his head then said to me.
“My last name is Borowen. I was a student at Melee-Magthere, but I guess they
didn’t want to have anything to do with me so they kicked me out…sort of.” He said kind of confused.

“Well maybe they thought you a threat and tried to kill you?” I asked reading some of his open thoughts as he quickly looked strait into my eyes and said,
“You read my thoughts? You are not one of the many usual people who travel the upper world?” Silly boy…don’t he know the deferent’s between and elf/witch and a human?
“Your thoughts?” I said playing dumb. “Me? You’re kidding right?”
“No…I am not kidding. I had most of my thoughts blocked…and would have known if you tried to enter my mind. That is what they taught us when we first began our training at the school.” He stated matter of factly. Smart kid.
“Well…you are a smart boy to know all this stuff that the school of…What was the name of that school again?” I played along pretending like I hadn’t known about this subject.
“Melee-Magthere.” He ‘reminded’ me. Cute.
“Right. Thank you Alex.” I said, looking for a facial difference just in case he didn’t like the nickname I had given him. But he just smiled as if the nickname meant something to him, and since he didn’t really have his mind blocked, I saw that he was beginning to have a crush on me…a mysterious stranger. That’s a laugh there.
“You don’t mind if I call you that right?” I said like I didn’t know…but hey! He wasn’t sure if I did or not.
“No…it’s rather…nice. I really like it. No one has ever given me a nickname before.” He mentioned thoughtfully. Well, I kind of liked him myself? But how old was he? As if answer to my question he said,
“I am 19, how old are you?” he smiled nicely, as his pearly white teeth beamed against his pallid skin.
“Um…I uh…” I stopped. Crap. He was suspecting something. I have to make up an age and fast. But could I lie to this young nice boy? “Guess.” I played around with him again. Maybe if he found an age he thought I would be…than he would think that? Hope it works with him.
“Uh…are you 15?” he asked and in response I shook my head no. “14?”
“That’s funny.” I said with a sweet musical laugh which mad him smile.
“Common…give me some help?” he asked with a teasing kind of voice. Well I didn’t like him like ‘that’; I just think he is a really nice guy.
“No…guess.” I responded and watched him trying to figure it out. He looked funny sitting there thoughtful.
“I don’t now. Really…you look rather young…younger than myself.” Alex mentioned trying to enter my mind for help…so I just opened my mind to that one thing…my fake age of 16. I hope he didn’t try to pry to far…or he wouldn’t be able to reach my real age because it was blocked.
“Um…16?” He tried sounding like he was still guessing…but he thought I thought he was guessing. Well that’s what he thought. Laugh. So I just smiled really big like he got it. This was rather amusing.
“Wow! You’re young. What are you doing here all by yourself? You could get kidnapped by the dark elves?” Alex asked, as he started to get concerned. Awe he cares about me. You know? The more I thought about it…it is a bit weird that I was just here all by myself? Opps. Hadn’t thought about that.
“I…uh…live here.” I said hoping he would by it. But I really was living here so I didn’t lie to him. Let’s just hope he didn’t get to curious.
“Right. But do you have any weapons?”
“Yes of course I do. Those dark elves would have gotten to me by now.”
“Really? And how did you end up here?” he asked.
“I ran away.” I responded truthfully. He nodded his head then asked me a question again,
“I believe you. But how long have you been living here by yourself?” I sighed nice and long to give him a drift that I was getting tired of these weird questions.
“About 12 years. I ran away from school…I got tired of Melee-…” I stopped realizing my dead give away. Crap. Nice going Miluiel.
“Ahh…so you did go to Melee-Magthere. How long?” He quizzed me not expecting the answer I gave him. Well, I might as well tell him since he already knows.
“508 years.” I said proudly. His eyes nearly popped out of his head when I said that. He looked funny. I wonder if I surprised him a bit too much. I can always read his thoughts to find out. I concentrated and got my mind clear then slowly eased my way into his mind, careful not to aware him what I was doing. Well, he was a bit surprised, and yet sad because he thought maybe he didn’t have a chance in liking me. Poor kid. But I don’t like him like that. See, I wouldn’t mind if we were just friends nothing more.
“Are…y-you sure?” He stuttered. Its great waiting the reaction on peoples face when the learn my real age.
“Of course that is my real age. Why would I lie about something like that?” I replied sounding a bit hurtful. He just smiled catching on then said,
“Well, you must be…immortal? Or how else would you be this old?” He wondered because dark elves didn’t live that long, besides, I wasn’t a dark elf. So it didn’t matter about age to me.
“No I am not immortal, I am just old because I am a witch and a light skinned elf.” I responded matter of factly.
“Oh, well…um…that explains why you have lived here for so long without any of the dark elves hurting you. Why did you run away from the school?” He asked interested.
“Well, I traveled with my best friend, and companion Drizzt Do’Urden…”I stopped because it made me sad to think of him, so Alex realizing my pain put a reassuring hand on mine and said wisely,
“If this is a painful subject…we don’t have to discuss it.” This boy is very thoughtful of others. He didn’t seem like other boys his age? Weird.
“No…it’s not that bad. I can speak of it. It has been a long time since I mentioned his name to any other. But where was I? Oh yes…Drizzt and I ran away from the school because we didn’t want to be apart of all that innocent killing. So we ran away. I know it sounds a bit silly right now…but it wasn’t. This was serious business…death is always serious. No matter what you were taught.” I stated boldly.
“I understand completely. The wizards just hated me because killing was my weakness and they said it would always be. So that is why they had no need of my being there, and my family thought I was a disgrace to the family so they disowned me.” It seemed as if he didn’t really want to talk about this subject so I didn’t pry. We sat there for about five minutes in silence thinking about our past lives.
It seemed like forever…until I sensed another’s presents there coming close. I quickly switched to my sight to where I could see body heat (to see if the person were invisible), then looked around. Alex seemed to realize the danger also…so he thought a small protection spell over himself. Bold…but not good enough. This power I felt around…was able to quickly pierce through the small spell Alex spoke. So me being a nice person thought of a stronger spell to protect the both of us then thought it, ‘Algiz tvn mouyk, obscurk remcit.’
A light pinkish glow flowed from my fingers and circled around Alex and I, then faded as fast as it came. Alex then looked dumbly at me as if I cursed him. He then tried sending me a message telepathically so I let him,
‘What did you just do?’
‘Silly boy. I put a better protection spell over the two of us. What ever is out there could have gotten through yours easily.’ I explained trying not to make him to upset.
‘Right…thanks. Once again you have helped me out. I am very grateful to have met you Miluiel.’ He said in my mind and I just had to smile some.
‘And I you, Alex. Get ready to pull out your weapons.’ I commanded as he thought about the command for a minute then put his hand to his sword hilt. I got the word ready for my twin fire swords, then with a quick flash I whipped them out then whispered saying, ‘Aluc rakzz I swivar.’ The red flames of fire flowed to my swards as fast as lightning, and Alex looked at me in amazement that I could just pull my swords out of thin air.
‘What? You’ve never heard of a storage ring before? That’s what I pulled it out of. Nice huh?’ I asked in his mind and he responded saying,
‘No. I don’t have on. And besides, I have never heard of one let alone seen one.’ He said truthfully. Well I will accept his explanation. Of course he would never have heard of one because there had only been 13 of them made, and sent all over the world, one for different lands.
‘Well, there are only 13 in all these lands. Some might have been taken by dragons, or there holders killed by others to gain power.’ I told him in his mind then stood up so quietly, Alex tried to do the same without making a sound as he carefully pulled out his twin fire swords also.
‘Go ahead and activate them. We are about to attack our wanderer.’ I said to him, as he whispered in a different language,
‘Bulok menor tulda swords.’ I understood of course because he said, ‘Fire take my swords’. (I understood all the languages because I was a holder of one of the 13 rings.)
‘Ready? Now!’ I said in his mind as I went around the tree to see a drow warrior looking around the mist trying to spot us. I wonder how many there were? We could take them. I had confidence. But did Alex? Hope so.
I walked quietly toward the Drow, and Alex followed my lead trying really hard not to make any noise. Poor guy. I kind of felt sorry that the school didn’t want him.
‘Alex? Go around him to the other side and we will attack…ok?’ I asked him in his mind.
‘Yes miss. I will do so.’ He replied obediently then went around the Drow. When he was finally on the other side of the Drow he said to me in my mind,
‘I made it.’ Good kid. He was really reliable. I thought about my next move then yelled out to the Drow in that Language saying,
‘Halt! We have you surrounded. If you make a move towards your sword you will be killed.’ The Drow seemed to flinch a bit, then without replying he pulled out a pair of scimitars. Great. This Drow wanted to fight. Well if he wants a fight…then he shall get one. So in response I hit my two fire swords together and said to Alex in his mind,
‘I will fight first, and if I need you come.’ I told him in a ‘you have to do’ manner, and in reply he said out loud in the Human language,
“Yes mam.” Then I heard him back off. The fog lifted a bit because I guessed Alex was trying to help p out a bit by chanting a spell. But since he wasn’t fully a wizard yet, the fog hung around a bit, but I could still see my drow enemy standing there, a shadow against the fog. This Drow warrior was trained in Melee-Magthere because of the way he didn’t attack first and waited for my first move. Smart…but I will have an advantage with my first move, so I walked quickly towards him and flung my sword at his chest and he moved aside very quickly and thrust a underhanded attack at me, but I worded it off with a quick roll. I decided to distract the Drow so I began a conversation with him in his own tongue.
‘You’re pretty good. Did you learn all that stuff from Melee-Magthere?’
Before he responded it seemed like the remark sent shock through him so he thrust his scimitar at my head, but I blocked it with my own fire swords.
‘Of course. What kind of stupid Drow wouldn’t go to Melee-Magthere to learn how to fight and use magic?’ He retorted with a low menacing voice.
‘Oh, well you’re really friendly.’ I said in a sarcastic way, which made him fight more aggressively. Ahh…so I reached a touchy spot? Cute.
‘The Drow aren’t meant to be friendly, you are the one who is to “Friendly”. You should try harder.’ He mocked me and out of rage I nicked his hand, and a small yell escaped his mouth. (I was fighting now!)
‘I am not friendly. Besides, I have spent a lot of years in the Drow schools. 496 to be correct.’ I bragged with authority and a small surprised gasp came for my opponent. What’s his problem? I tried to enter his mind, but he quickly shoved me out of it. Fine! He can be that way if he wants…but I will fine a way.
‘You said you’ve been in training at Melee-Magthere?’ he asked me just to be sure he heard right. Naw…what do you think? Goodness.
‘Of course! You’re really a numbskull aren’t you?’ I Taunted.
The Drow decided to make a move so he twirled his scimitar over his head then came down on my thigh with a loud, ‘smack’. That hurt a bit. But if it weren’t for my spell, the weapon would have cut right through.
‘What happened? It would have cut through you? I don’t understand?’ the Drow mentioned in confusions. Since he was trying to figure something out I took this as my ‘other’ advantage and swung my swords around. Confusing him even more then came down quickly and knocked one of his scimitars out of his hands as it flew through the mist and landed 12 feet away. Then I lifted my right sword to his throat, and the other towards his stomach.
‘Surrender or die.’ I stated as he quickly dropped his weapon then smiled at me saying,
‘If I surrender, you will not kill me afterwards? You promise?’ Bargaining with a witch? Bad idea. But I will take it.
‘Sure. But if you betray me…you will die a rather painful death that is so evil, the wizards at Melee-Magthere won’t even speak of it.’ I threatened in a whispered voice that even to me sounded very eerie.
‘Yes, I promise on my life.’ The drow said looking away from me, in fear that my gaze would kill him. I had to laugh at that, and my ‘evil’ laugh made the Drow shiver.
‘Very good. We have a deal. Now go put away your scimitars.’ My first command for the Drow ‘hostage’. It’s been quite a long time since I had a prisoner? I think I might have the use of this strong willed Drow?
I watched Drow walk sadly towards his fallen scimitar and place it in it sheath, then walked towards me with his head down low in defeat.
‘Don’t feel so bummed out. You didn’t die.’ I tried to reason with him, which only made him glare at me with his bright blue eyes that seemed almost see through.
‘To die in battle is a great thing. You should know that because you went to Melee-Magthere.’ He retorted in an acid like tone.
‘Ahh…no. I will not have that from a weakling like you.’ I said sarcastically. This Drow really was headstrong. A good fighter, but he needs a bit more practice.
‘Drow are not weak…up Landers such as yourself are. I don’t even know why the took you into training? We hate the light skinned.’ He explained, and which I already know was very true I my case. But as the Drow know…they must not refuse an apprentice that is an owner of one of the13 rings.
‘I am an owner of one ring.’ I stated with pride then continued, ‘Besides, your kind can’t harm me when I hold a high position. And I am sure you already know that don’t you?’ I teased him by placing my paled hand on his cheek. Those words seemed to strike fear in his heart, other wise he would have brushed my hand away…which he didn’t do.
‘Yes. I already know about the 13 rings.’ He said through clenched teeth. Notty Drow. He shouldn’t treat me in this manner…but I guess they never learn. I sighed then asked him with a sweet musically voice,
‘What is your name Drow?’
‘Muthrion.’ He said, regretting that he even said that.
‘Do you have a second name boy? Or are you the last of one of the houses?’ I said trying to let the words sink in.
‘I do not have a second name…and I don’t belong to any of the different houses. I am just a strong wise Drow in training.’ He said truthfully. I will accept his answer without prying in his thoughts… I’ll be nice.
‘Oh…so the wizards just thought you were really good?’ I asked him gently.
‘Yes, I guess so. Who are you?’ Muthrion asked gaining his courage again. Strong would fit this boy just fine. But what was he doing here?
‘My name? Should I give it to someone like you? I don’t know? What do you say, Alex?’ I asked the boy as he walked over towards the both of us.
“I heard you say my name? But the rest I couldn’t understand. Sorry.” He lied, but I knew that he did. He speaks Drow, or how else would he know how to respond when he was in training at Melee-Magthere?
‘Alex! You know very well how to speak in Drow!’ I exclaimed and he looked away from me, upset that I caught his lie.
‘Sorry miss. Now what was your question a while ago?’ he asked trying to get my mind off of his lie. Or was he scared this Drow would share something about Alex that he didn’t want me to know about?
‘I want you to let me know if I should give this…Drow my name.’ I asked, with distaste on the word “Drow”.
‘Sure…just as long as he doesn’t try to use your name for magic.’ Alex said reasonably. Well at least he is pretty smart.
‘You’re really smart when it comes to that taught, I never would have taught of that? Well, Drow…my name is Miluiel Undomiel. Elf/Witch. Started school at Melee-Magthere when I was 6, Graduated when I was 100 years old…stayed in the school until I was 496years old. And here I am now…living as a nomad.’ I explained, confusing the Drow warrior. He looked like his mind was about to explode! It was rather amusing to see him like that.
‘Then…y-you…must be ancient! No elf lives that long? How do you do it?’ Muthrion asked me. Hum…should I answer him? I guess so in case he escapes to tell the other drow…then they will fear me greatly. (I am evil like that.)
‘I guess you can put it that way? Well, I became on of the most powerful elf’s…so that is why my life was extended. And I am sure my “friends” at the school wished to kill me for my rank…and probable because they thought me a threat? So tell me Muthrion…of no name, have you heard of me?’ I asked him in a frightening kind of way.
‘Yes…mam. The Drow’s say you died here on the upper world, and were a great magician and witch. Some say you were a goddess, sent from above to rule all the upper lands, and Drizzt was sent to rule the lower lands.’ The drow said…afraid of making me mad. Good! Let him think I was mad. All the better!
‘Really? Well that’s surprising? I never thought they would say such a thing about a light skinned elf? Well, to set your story straight…I ran away from the school before becoming one of the high masters with my best friend Drizzt Do’Urden. We came to these upper lands to explore…and learn about all the other races of the world, but when we came here Drizzt and I decided to take different paths, and to meet with each other every year…but I haven’t seen him for 12 years now. And to this day.’ I explained to him and it pained to talk of such things.
‘Wow. That is…I don’t know of the word?’ Muthrion said trying to think of the right word to say about my life’s story. Well that’s ok with me. He is just a Drow student, nothing wrong about that?
‘Well, what are you going to do know Drow?’ I asked him wondering what he had in mind. Probable to run away?
‘To run.’ He explained truthfully, then Alex interrupted saying,
‘That’s stupid. You cannot run from this elf/witch, she is to powerful. She can find you and strike you down in an instant with a bold of lightning.’ He exaggerated. Well, actually…I could probably strike him with lightning. That would be fun?
‘I Wont mam.’ He said telling the truth. Good. We will be great opponents.

yep... you can join

and eh Miluiel Undomiel... I am confused by your post... if your character is an elf and not a dark one then there are too many complications... first of all... drows would kill any elf they would see and letting one into melee magthere... secondly women drows usually become priests...

I am just too confused with your story and... well I thought we might somewhat go along the books all tough small changes and characters won`t matter yet...

she could have disguised herself as a dark elf for four centuries lol. but look at how they treated Entreri even when he joined Bregan D'aerthe. and Miluiel would be one of the hated 'evil surface elves.'
