I think Shakespeare has been ruined for me because I must have studied the most boring plays he ever wrote: Henry V and ... oh darn, I don't remember what its called, but it had cross-dressing and Ganemede and 'All the world is a stage'.
But they were boring.
I really really want to read the tempest.

this play is As you like it, and it's one of my favorite plays!! OK it might be boring if you don't like the way Shakespeare wrote but this play is really one of Shakespeare's purple patch: Jaques's monologue "All the world's a stage " is probably the most beautiful speech about Teatrum Mundi! Try to see it on stage...
The Tempest is also wonderful but if you didn't like As you like it, you'll probably not like it too....

The one that has 'All the world's a stage...' is from As You Like It
I rather liked Henry V, but maybe it's because I watched it, not read it. Shakespeare is meant to be seen! Argh, I think English teachers everywhere should show their students the play alongside the text. More people would like Shakespeare then! But I do see why you didn't really care for it, a lot of the history plays are a bit tedious...
I like A Midsummer's etc. in the comedy realm, and King Lear in the tragedy realm. I love Lear...it's the most poignant of his tragedies I think. I like Hamlet and Macbeth too, but not so much.

I loved reading A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the movie rocked. Ha ha ha. However, my favourite interpretation of this play was the play "Puck's Potion" which is a modern day version of it. And it's a musical, my favourite song in that was called "I Love Me." I definately agree, Shakespeare is meant to be seen.

In English class, we're doing Romeo and Juliet. It was such saying the words out loud but I was Mercutio. Anyways, we were doing Act III and I just died when the bell ringed. Everyone loved my part though.

I've only studied two of Shakespeare's plays; Romeo & Juliet, and Macbeth. I quite liked R&J, and I really enjoyed Macbeth! I loved the dark and twisted theme of it I still have my copy of Macbeth that I forgot to give back to school... I might be sad and go read it...

Aye, Macbeth is rather grim. That's what makes it so good.

I read Hamlet this year, and loved it. Wanted to memorize whole passages of it, because the language was so beautiful.
I wish I could read Hamlet again, and it be the first time I'd ever read it...

Yay, Shakespeare! I love the way that he wrote...the dialogue was just...I don't know how to explain it. lol. But whenever I read/see Shakespeare's works, I feel all excited.
I've only read a few of his plays - A Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo & Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, and parts of Hamlet. I loved them all. I've only seen the movie of The Merchant of Venice, but hopefully I can read it soon, too...
We're going to read Julius Caesar in school this year, so I'm looking forward to that. I think I'm the only one in class that is, though.

I LOVE Shakespeare! I don't know, for some reason I'm able to understand it better than a lot of people. If I read it slowly enough, I can usually understand everything.
IT IS AMAZING. He is definately one of the best, if not the best. The effect he had on modern playwriting is huge, and he invented many words that we use commonly today, like "weird".
I'm not sure what my favorite Shakespeare play is... I love it all so much...

^ I agree with you completely!
Ahhh, people who appreciate Shakespeare!
I've seen "A Midsummer Night's Dream" performed in open air, at the Mynach Theatre. (Spelled wrongly. XD; )
Absolutely beautiful it was as well.
I adore performing Shakespeare, even just reading it out loud...

Anyone else seen Shakespeare live? A few years ago, I took a trip w/ my school to the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario. Coolness. It was the first time I ever saw a complete Shakepseare play in person. We saw Taming of the Shrew and Pericles.

I kinda have a hard time reading anything in old English, maybe I don't try hard enough or something. lol. I have read a couple of narrative forms. I liked A Midsummer Night's Dream best. I never have seen any of his plays, or movies based on them. I should, that'd help me appreciate them more probably.

I love Shakespeare!! My all-time favourite is Macbeth. The Witches are fantastic and their line ... wow!!
I read loads of Shakespeare last year (Henry 4,5,6,8; a Midsummer Nights Dream, the Taming of the Shrew and so on) and found out it helps if you choose a person to be and read the play then, reading all the lines of this person to yourself. It helps you concentrate!

"My dear Lysander,
I swear to thee by Cupids strongest bow,
By his best arrow with the golden head,
By the simplicity of Venus' doves,
By that which knitteth souls and prospers loves,
And by that fire which burned the Carthage Queen,
When the false Trojan under sail was seen,
By all the vows that ever men have broke,
(In number more than ever women spoke,)
In this same place thou hast appointed me,
Tomorrow, truly will I meet with thee."
-Hermia, Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
Yup, we had to read it for English class, and I have to say that it was one of the better plays I read by Shakespeare. I also liked "Romeo and Julliet" and "Much Ado About NOthing".
