The second in the series by Garth Nix! I love this book, even though it isn't my favourite out of the three - Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen - see my post on the Sabriel thread!
Basically, Liarel is trying to find her destiny, as she doesn't feel like a true Daughter of the Clayr. When we first meet her she is 14, and is considering suicide because she hasn't gained the Sight. At the end of the book she is a young woman of 19, with a new friend - the Disreputable Dog. I won't say anything in between because I don't want to spoil anything! But it is a great book and it is definately worth a read if you're into fantasy stories (well, if you like LotR, I should imagine everyone here likes fantasy stories!  ) - it may be a bit long for some but it is definately worth it as the story is so fantastic!

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........I love this book. I've read all of Old Kingdom books. my favorite was Sabriel and then Abhorsen and then Lirael. they are really good books.

I've always wanted to read those books. I've read the side story: The creature in the case... To me it seems as if Lirael is in love with Nick...

i saw this and i freaked out!!!!! Larael i new i would find u on this thing. i read those books!!!! I'm thinking about reading the last one.... i'm not sure if i should.... will u pm me or something, Larael? I love all the Abhorsen series and I can't really decide what's the best one!

I adore everyone of them, Garth Nix is my favourite author!! I'm so suprised there han't been a thread abouth this yet!
