Yes it is kind of ironic in a sense because he married 6 differnt women in order to produce a male heir to the throne and the only one of his children to have a considberable reign was a woman. She even has a period in history named after her and she turned out to be much more of an influence than Henry's son Edward, which was to be expected since Edward died so young.
Woops actually I was wrong, during Edward's short reign he changed England from a Catholic state to a Protestant one. Yes Henry started the whole thing but it wasn't untill Edward that the Protestant movement firmly took root, apprently.

Wasn't very sick because of the moldy castle Henry gave her after divorcing her? Didn't she die from that? Or are we talking about someone different?

Did I not ask? I thought I did. I'm sorry. I think I asked a long time ago and didn't come back because of lack of activity. I apologize.
May I join?

Of course, I never ban anyone(unless they prove out to be complete fools that offend others, but such persons don`t usually show their faces around here)

I've just finished reading The Other Bolyn girl that all about this time - and is a great book btw.
Anne Boleyn, his second wife, was executed for witch craft and Catherine Howard his 5th wife was executed for having another lover. In the book it implied that Anne could have poisioned Catherine of Aragon - she definitly insisted on her being banished to an old castle.

I watched the History Channel special about Henry VII. It was of goodly length, about 1.5 to 2 hours long, but very informtative!

I just got a book by the same person who wrote The Other Boleyn Girl, called the Constant Princess. Its about Katherine of Aragon I was about to buy TOBG but...it as Katherine of Aragon! And it mentions Henry VII, therefore I HAD to buy it
I haven't read it yet though....maybe I should...
But I don't think she was killed by Anne, why would Anne want to kill her once she had got married to Henry? Its nt like she was a threat any more.

True.... funny how one man`s divorce issues changed the english church and yet he couldn`t get a son in the end all tough all his efforts....
btw anyone know some historical last words of somew persons? I mean they might not have actually said that, but at least supposedly the man who wrote the first finnish novel, Seven brothers. He was never really credited for his book and critics crushed his book. Aleksis Kivi`s last supposed words were.
"I live, live"
Sounds kinda odd ecspecially when he recordedly before that he was mentally ill and only 32 years old, he only spoke latin and stuff before the end yet said that in the end. Quite interesting wouldn`t it be, if it was real i mean sounds like from a book or something doesn`t it?

Oh The Constant Princess is really great too I hope you enjoy it. I'd never really thought about this time from Katherine's perspective before.
Katherine was still a threat to Anne after she was crowned because the people of England still supported her as Queen and were against Anne. Also the Pope still considered Katherine to be Henry's wife and Charles (?) King of Spain was pretty angry about the Henry casting off Charles' Aunt.

I'd like to join please! I think my favorite time to study is either the 16-1700s in the Caribbean, and the miidle/dark ages in Europe.

Oh! I know some last words! I think it was Nelson or someone apparently said 'Kiss me, Hardy', but it was really more like 'fan, fan rub, rub' I learnt that on QI
Is the 16/1700's when the pirates were around? That seems really interesting, but I've never learnt about it :/
