Logan placed Jean on a table and looked at Xavier. Not sure quite what to say to him.
"Could you leave us alone please Logan. I need absolute concentration and stillness"

Xaviers voice was almost cold. But Logan did as he asked and waited outside the infirmary. Questions swirling around his head. How could she be?

"I ran away in the middle of my studies, why? I had enough and wanted to get to my foster family that brought me here, guess what? They had left leaving me alone here so I never returned here until tonight... all tough not to be taken back..."

Io fell to her knees as she felt the shock, and sudennly realised wht she had done. She sent out her poweres and felt a faint copy of them down the haall way she transformed into a Ice Otter and scrambeled throught the ventilation system till she came to the romm Hai and Ange were in, then fell though the grate onto the floor at Hai's feet.

Logan paced back and forth. Growing more and more impatient. He cursed to himself and walked back into the infirmary. Jean was still on the table, she was wired up to a machine that seemed to be checking her vitals.
"So..what's going on? Why is she not dead?" Logan asked the Professor who was placed at the top end of the table and was concentrating very deeply.

"I'm not sure. She should by all accounts be dead. That volume of water should have killed her. But something protected her. I'm surmising that she used her telekinetic powers to raise some sort of shield to cocoon herself. There's no way to be sure" Xavier said, never looking up at Logan

Logan looked over Jeans peaceful body. Xavier spoke up.
"Something else I can help you with Logan?"

"What's with all these contraptions and wires?" he looked uneasy, things like this always made him uneasy and gave him a bad feeling.

"I'm monitoring her progress telepathically. Jean is an extraordinary woman and was an extraordinary young girl. The first level 5 mutant I had came across at that time. She suffered serious trauma after she watched her friend die in her arms. It triggered her power far too early, and she began to develop a..second personality." Xavier sighed, the memory causing him pain.

"A second personality?" Logan questioned Xavier, unsure of what he was getting at.

"A second personality. One that was driven by instinct, out of control. She called it The Phoenix. I gradually built up psychic barriers to help her control those powers. To keep the beast at bay"

Logan looked at Xavier with utter disgust.

Xavier seemed taken aback by Logans attitude.
"I had to Logan. For her own good, she was too unstable to control the power on her own. What would you have me do? Let her loose with the power she had? It was the lesser of two evils Logan. I had to choose ultimately what was the right thing to do.

"What about Jeans choice? Doesn't she get a say? You know...when you cage the beast...the beast gets angry" Logan was becoming tense and was moving towards Xavier.

"I don't need to explain my reasons Logan. Least of all to you"

Logan snarled and left the infirmary in a rage.
