How do you get a font to look like it is glowing on a page or just a little darker than its surroundings, yet be transparent. Like Arwen Webmaster has done for the heading on the website. If you know, or know of a good website that could tell me how, please let me know!

Thank you!

Ah, sorry, I don't know anything about Photoshop. I use Paint Shop Pro.

But maybe you could find what you're looking for here:

Write yer text
Duplicate layer
Rasterize it
Filter>Gaussian Blur

Play around with settings till you like it..

Well, I meant rather like Thenidiel's kitten banner with the text like that, but now that you mentioned it, I wanted to get that glowy effect too, Elfenwen.

Thank you much for the link, and thank you for the instructions! I shall goof around with it and see what I come up with.

I've done that, and it's looked close, but I figured out if you use soft light or overlay on the text it will achieve the desired effect. YAY FOR ME!

Oh, and what did you mean by rasterize it? I couldn't figure that much out. I got it to look pretty much like that, but I'm wondering if that would just add the finishing touch.

Thank you! (about the Josh banners)

What she means by rasterize, is you make it into a normal layer instead of a text layer. What I do to rasterize it is try to put a random brush onto the text and then it will ask you if you want to rasterize the layer.

...I think, anyway...
