Kelly woke up in a hospital room. A nurse was checking her pulse.
"Oh--you woke up! How are you feeling?" The nurse held a hand on Kelly's forehead.
"I'm not sure. I haven't had food in days, and I'm feeling weak. This whole thing about this school and--mutants--well it all overwhelmed me. Did I pass out?" Kelly asked. She tried not to move.
"Yes dear. When you're feeling up to getting up, you can go get some food." The nurse said.
"I'm ready now." Kelly said she sat up. The nurse raised a brow, but gave Kelly her clothes.
"Thanks." Kelly said. The nurse left her for privacy, and Kelly got changed.


Kelly walked through the crowded halls. She followed the nurse's directions to the kitchen. When she got there, she saw two girls talking. Shyly, she went around them and to the fridge.

Tricia smiled and took his hand. She slowly stood up and looked up to him. She cleared her throat and then started walking toward the front door.

They exited to the bright sunshine. He took the chance to quickly light up a smoke. The first drag was always the best. He blew the smoke out with great satisfaction.
"Let's take a seat."
He indicated to the benches where he had been before. As they walked down the sky darkened. John lifted his head up and his brow furrowed.

Tricia quickly looked around, with wide eyes. "Oh, my god..." She whispered. She swallowed hard and looked up to the sky. She had fear written all over her face.

Kelly wheeled around quickly.
"Yeah, I'm new." Kelly said shyly. She looked at the peach she had taken out of the fridge.
"I'm-I'm Kelly." She finally said. She looked up at them.
