Post subject: Phantom Of the Opera by Susan Kay
PostPosted: June 4th, 2005, 7:39 pm

Just thought I should mention one of the greatest books ever written.

I loved this book and could read it a million times over, My favourite Characters being Madeline and Nadir.

I really feel for all the characters in the book are well written and I just over all really loved it.

Thoughts, Comments ? Who's your favourite character?

I've never seen or read the Phantom of the Opera, but from what I hear, people absolutely love it. And from the title and pictures I've seen it does look incredibly interesting. I'd like to read it, but I haven't ever seen it in the library. What is it mostly about? :bye2:

By Susan Kay? Is it different from Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux? That's the only one I know of o.O

Yeah same here. The one Gaston Leroux is more of a horror.

There has been "versions" off of Gaston Leroux's. I much prefer Gaston Leroux and Andrew Lloyd Webber over Susan Kaye though.

I had the pleasure of reading the book in French 2 years ago. After that I saw the original movie. It was a very good book and the movie was good too. I have not had the pleasure of seeing the play or the latest movie, but I bet they are amazing.

But what do you mean "original movie"?

The more I hear about it, the more I want to read it/ watch the movie... Only if the girl isn't murdered. Is that what happens or is it some one else? (I think I gave away the ending! :erm:

Are we still talking about Susna Kay's version? If so do you mean Luciana?

I love the whole back story Kay gives to Erik, it gives the reader a much better understanding of his character. Did anyone else have trouble getting this book?

I think she's talking about the black-and-white silent movie they made in the 1920's. I can't be sure though.

I LOVED the one by Gaston Leroux, but I haven't read the one by Susan Kay. I'll be sure to look for it! :)

The orginal by Gaston L. was very good. I haven't touched the remakes, I like Gaston's better.

Out of print ? I would hope not. I've seen it in libraries before but never gave it a second glance. I mean, I don't like it but I hope it doesn't go out of print.

I read the e-book of Phantom by Susan Kay. I can't wait to get a PB copy. It was a really good story. Very tragic.

I've read some of Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. I couldn't really get into it though.

Susan Kay's Phantom was out of print until very recenly. It's only available at the Llumina Press Website.

Until now, they were selling on ebay for $40-$90. Possibly more. And those were used paperbacks. Pretty ridiculous.
