Yes, yes, I know, we're only on day 2 of the Tolkien Revival... but I thought this would be nice to have a place for the members to report on their progress in reading the books, encourage those who are behind, and tell funny stories about your reading.

My report:

I'll confess. I started in late May. :duh: Bad Arsa! Bad Arsa! :fish:

But in the middle of A Long Expected Party, I finally got up enough courage to say NO! :flex: ....And then started reading The Silmarillion to keep myself in check. 8)

So, I finally finished that chapter in bed last night. Oh, ecstasy! :) It's been over a year and a half since I last read it... and I had forgotten certain things, like Bilbo's elongated speech, Gandalf's flash of light, and Bilbo's preparations... I LOVE how he kept the cloak Dwalin gave him in The Hobbit. :bounce:

So, there's my report. :medieval:

The last time I read FotR was a good two years ago. Bad fan bad fan *hits self on head...* anyways this whole A-U Tolkien Revival got me truly thinking how I have forgotten what LotR truly means and picked up the book last night to begin reading *cheers*

I started at ohh... 12am so practically today and finished the first chapter in an hour, I was tired sue me. As Arsa said I had forgotten alot that happened with preparing for the party and the chatter of the hobbits like the Gaffer and Sandyman....

I started reading the night before the revival officially started, so I could get a head start on discussion questions and such. I planned on reading only the first chapter or two, but read through 3 1/2 :P I haven't read FotR in oh... probably a year and a half to two years, and I am totally re-addicted! I'm still blown away by the richness of the story. *goes back to reading*

I haven't started yet, but I think I will probably start today! :) I need to keep up with everyone! I haven't read FotR in about a year or two, I think, so I'm excited to start again!! :D :D

Haha...I think I just finished FotR for the eighth time three months ago. Call me crazy. It's all still pretty fresh in my mind! I did really like how Bilbo had all these presents and inside jokes for his aquaintences. It was sweet. Particularly the Sackville-Bagginses!

I just picked up my copy of FotR, and found that the last time I read it, I got to book 2 and stopped. So I think I will begin again, to go along with the revival.

I was just rereading FotR to find a quick answer to the Treasure Hunt question. I found the answer towards the end of the first chapter, but I kept reading, because I just couldn't put it down. I finally made myself stop at Chapter 3.

Then I thought, hey why not join a book club, I mean I've already started rereading, why not keep going. :)

I started yesterday. This is only the third time I read the books (last time was a year ago) and the first time I read them in English. My parents bought a copy illustrated by Alan Lee. If anyone is interested: I can scan the picures and post them here.

I really liked that part. It's funny and sweet.

I'm doing a chapter a day, cause I'll be gone a week in June and won't be able to read then. I read the chapter in the Old Forest today.

Excellent, excellent! :D I'm glad to see that people are enjoying the books again. :P

I'm about a half chapter ahead of my schedule... I had intended to read "Fog on the Barrow-downs" tomorrow, but I forgot all about that and started reading, only to realize what I'd done just when it got to the scary part. So now, I've got the most frightening (I think) scene in all LotR to read in bed tonight.

I'm right in the middle of the Old Forest now. :) I'm getting completely obsessed again...

(I'm going to scan the Alan Lee's artwork now. I'll post in the FotR section!)
