I can't choose. Too hard. Galadriel is so wise.... Arwen sacrifices so much for love... Elrond is a great leader... Gil-galad was just plain awesome.... and Legolas, well, he wasn't much, really. I like the story of his and gimli's friendship, though.
I guess I don't have a favorite elf, then. Pity Aragorn doesn't count...

Thanks Fíriel.
Much like humans, but also greater in many ways. Perhaps Tolkien meant them to be perfect compared to humans, but in my opinion they have their own flaws too. In the Sil the elves are powerful, proud and appear slightly arrogant. Their love is stronger, as is their hatred: any feeling or action is exaggerated.

My favortite elf (well, elves) are Elladan and Elrohir. They are awesome! I like how they hang out with humans. And they're twins! You get two of them!

I don't think Tolkien meant for the Elves to be perfect. Not even the Valar are perfect, the only one who seems to be without flaws is Illuvatar (God).

Well,he doesn't have much of a role. Compared to Galadriel, he's just kind of there.

It's difficult to explain, especially because it's been a while since I read the Sil now, and it is on the Sil I mostly base my opinions that elves are extreme. The Oath of Fëanor is the best example I can come up with now. An oath so strong that influenced so many people for so many years to come. And it mostly had that effect because of the fatal pride of some individuals.

Exaggerated wasn't the most fitting word I admit, but I imagine that if someone loves and that person has already lived for a thousand years these feelings must be deeper and more sincere, because that individual, based on the years he/she has already lived, has learned a lot from life. The same with hate and any other aspect of life, small things come to matter less and the things that really mean something, they tend to fight for.
Off-topic: It doesn't make sense to talk about the movie elves or the actors who played them as this is a book discussion about Tolkien's Elvish characters.

well, he has a role, he's the king of Lothlorien...but he doesn't say almost anything, exept :"nine of you left rivendell, only eight arrived. tell me, where is gandalf, for i much want to speak to him???" and that's about it!
