If you could chose people from both the LotR Trilogy and The Silm, who would you choose to be part of the Fellowship? Remember you can only choose 9 people or it wouldn't be accurate. Think it through before you reply.
I'll have to give it some thought too.

I think I would have Beren from the Silmarillion...and possibly Luthien as well. Awesome guy. I would probably also have Elladan and Elrohir, and Dain. And Frodo and Sam, I wouldn't change that. I probably wouldn't change Aragorn either. Or Gandalf. So my Fellowship would maybe be...
Aragorn = same
Frodo = same
Sam = same
Gandalf = same
Boromir = Beren
Merry and Pippin = Elladan and Elrohir
Legolas = Luthien
Gimli = Dain.
Seems like a good combo

I'd probably take Galadriel though she's not exactly the warrior type, she is really smart. I'd keep Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, and Gandalf though. I'd replace Boromir with Faramir, because he did not seem show any sign of actually wanting the Ring.
Here's the complete list:
Aragorn=same
Boromir=Faramir
Frodo=same
Sam=same
Merry=Melian
Pippin=?
Legolas=Fëanor
Gimli=Galadriel
Gandalf=same
I'm still not sure who else to put in there...

I think I would probably change Legolas with Finrod, Gimli with Luthien and Boromir with Beren.

I love the Fellowship just the way it is. Maybe I'd chosen Glorfindel instead of Legolas.

Interesting idea...the felloship did work the way it was, so it's hard to think of other ways. I suppose I'd say-
Frodo
Sam
Aragorn
Earendil
Merry
Gandalf
Faramir
Turgon
Huor

I like Tolkien's fellowship as it is. Part of me says Gimli would've been better off left behind and replaced by Fatty. The whole point, though, was to have each race represented, and without Gimli that couldn't be. Hmm...though putting Elladan and Elrohir with Aragorn instead of Legolas and Gimli could've been interesting.

tolkiens selection is the best.the eagle does make an appearance as gandalfs escape and extraction agent,rescuing gandalf from the tower of orthank and alose rescues sam and frodo.tolkien did not give him any speaking roles in LOTR.

I'd keep it how it is, because it all works out in the story. *shrugs* Tolkein knew what he was doing!
