I don't think I'll join the contest. But I do want to see who ends up winning. I don't think I'm close to being good enough to enter a contest. But it should be interesting to see how this one turns out.

I've started a new book. or, I will start a new book. can't wait. it will be GOOD

I'm debating whether to join the contest or not. I'm currently addicted to writing in my own story and finishing as much of it this summer as possible. once I start a new story, I'm bound to get carried away

well... it's about a girl named Arinda, which means wrath. she's a 'winter child', and actually rather cursed. her mother dies when giving birth to arinda, and her father wants nothing to do with her after that. but he is the only one who can give her a name, so he calls her arinda.
people fear her because she's cursed, and as a child she's mostly left alone. she lives with a woman who secretly is a witch... she wonders why people avoid her, and when she's 16 she runs away. she starts living in the wild among dangerous animals, who become her friends, and she teaches herself how to fight. when she's about 20, she meets the woman she lived with before, but arinda doesn't recognize her. but she has some kind of mark on the face, and when the witch sees it she knows who arinda is. she tells arinda the truth about who she is, the daughter of a king. so arinda decides to find her father to get revenge. she secretly studies the fighting ways of his warriors, and after some time kills one of them and takes his clothes, to look more like them. then she goes to find her father. he turns out to have remarried and now has two sons, which makes arinda furious. she asks him how he could remarry, he who was so full of sorrow after his wife's death that he could not bear to see his child.

that's how far i've planned it, but of course it might turn out different. i kinda like it. I wonder what she's gonna to to her father though what do you think?

it sounds amazing thus far. what she should do to her father? kill him, of course. and then feel wretchedly guilty about it but... I must be semi-sadistic

The story sounds interesting...but it's freakishly sorta like mine.

this is what my story, Wintersong, is about:

It's about a girl named Winter. She's an enchantress, and very skilled at it. Her mother died at birth, and her father died soon after. She's a princess, and her uncle rules as regeant until Winter marries. She's in love with a person Natayen (don't laugh. I just luuurrrrveeee the name) but her uncle doesn't like this that much. Well, "Dear old Uncle" has quite a bit up his sleeve (insert what could happen here-I'm not spoiling you all. Nyah-nyah!). So, Winter has to go traveling to the coast of her country while Natayen goes off to-guess what?-kill dragons that have done absolutely nothing at all! And while and the coast, Winter finds out a lot more then she bargained for (there would be HUGE spoilers here).

What's the same between the stories:

1.) Main characters are both girls
2.) Both girls have something to do with winter
3.) Both girls are princesses
4.) Both have a mother that died at birth
5.) Both have to learn to fight

Creepy, isn't it? And i've had this story in my head for quite some time.

girls that learn how to fight. sounds like my kind of story I read somewhere that the stories you write and the characters you make up all come from inside of you, meaning they reflect some part of your soul. so this story must have some significance to you.

I've started to attempt another fantasy. I'm actually really impressed with it.
My main character is Glory. She lives in this huge villiage with her parents and her older sister and little brother. She's very special because she has the power to hold sunlight in her hands. The only people in her villiage that truely love her are her parents (who fawn over her) and her little brother. Her older sister hates her because she gets all kinds of attention and Liberty (Glory's sister) doesn't. Then Glory ends up finding a whole other world of people just like her with powers too. She actually finds out that her villiage and these new people have been at war for centuries and a huge attack is being planned and she'll end up having to discover whether having powers makes you powerful or whether being powerful means using your own inner strength as a power. Sounds lame I know but it's the best I have.

Another thing, this is what's kind of cool about summer, now that everyone has more time ideas seem to be sprouting up like flowers. That's so cool.

^that doesn't sound lame at all. it actually sounds very innovative. why does the rest of the village hate her?

^Well, it's not really that they hate her...they more resent her or fear her because of her power and that they really don't know how to handle because she's different. They're very intolerant of her powers more than her, I should have been more clear on that.
