In the EE, during Theodred's funeral, Eowyn sings a song of mourning in the Rohirric language. It sounds really cool, and I would love to know the words, in English and Rohirric (I think that is the language). If someone could tell me, or point me in the right direction, that would be marvelous!

Yes, it IS really lovely... though the actual language is Old English, not Rohirric. Tolkien wrote too little about Rohirric for them to write a whole song in it. Quite a shame, really.

i was thinking it looked a lot like old english/anglo saxon (either term applies) although tbf, rohirric was based on old english/anglo saxon so it probably wouldn't have sounded much different if it had been in rohirric.

i know tolkien called it old english, but i prefer anglo saxon because i think it's important to remember that the language wasn't originally native to britain - calling it old english seems to me to be a selfish desire to claim the language for england with no respect for the people who did actually create it.

anyhow, whatever you call it, it's a beautiful language and i'm really exited cuz i get to learn it next year when i study beowulf as part of my english degree. to make things even better, tolkien himself used to teach beowulf at my uni (leeds) - how cool is that?!
