yeah, it made quite a lot but some people went just to laugh and diss it, i have a couple of kids at my school who did that, they hate the first one so they payed 6.50 to go see this one and poke fun at it, they couldnt find anything wrong with it so...serves them right.

Oh my gosh! I looooved this movie! I think I'm going to see it again. I went to Century Theatres and everyone was excited. The seats were nearly out! Luckily we got last ones, but I ended up watching in the front with my dad. It's not bad I didn't have to look all the way up until my neck hurt. As soon as the movie started everyone was like YAY!!! So was I. Man, I knew it would top the box office as soon as it was over. I can't wait until the third one! I like the little cliff hanger the ending left us with. I normally don't like endings like these, but for some reason I did. Can we start talking about spoilers now?

I'm jealous Keira got to kiss Johnny!!! :annoyed: I wouldn't care if his breath stunk or he had bad teeth. When your in a life or death situation, she just had to kiss him. We all knew she had a crush, but I just feel bad for Will.

What's SW? I agree it's better than the rest, but I still am loyal to LotR. Pirates is a VEERRY close second on my list. If the third one kicks butt than it might actually top my list, I'm sorry to say. It's a very entertaining movie.

lol! That's funny! My grandma, sis, mom, and dad came with me. Ofcourse my dad and I were at the front. My grams, sis, mom in the back. My grandma fell asleep for a bit and woke up when the kraken screamed. Don't get me wrong, she loved the movie, but she had a hard time understanding the whole English language. The seats in the theatre were full at the ten 'o clock show, so my mom and I couldn't whisper in her ears and explain the movie. (My grandma doesn't speak english very well...heh heh.)

Dude how are you guys getting into the theaters? It's impossible to go see it now where I live.

Well, Sida and I went to see it together, and I went to get tickets way before the showing we wanted to go to. Then I arrived at the theater about 40 minutes before the show started, and I still had a bit of trouble getting seats! It was almost as bad as when I went to see LotR!

I LOVED it. I actually liked Will's character a lot better in this film than in the first one...less morally rigid and more of a person...it was so sad when Elizabeth kissed Jack, the look on his face...
I liked Elizabeth a little less though.
But, if possible, I love Captain Jack even more than I did.
I want to go see it again! :P

MAJOR SPOILERS

I'm going to need to rant.

I'm never going to trust the makers of a sequel again.

Yeah, I didn't like it. What made watching the movie even more heartbreaking was that I had watched CotBP right before we went to the theater. I just love that movie...how the characters, the plot, the music, and especially the characters work so well together. I just hoped more than anything they wouldn't mess that all up in DMC. Well, they did. For me anyway.

1. All the characters traded places. Sure, Elizabeth was rebellious, but I never thought she'd turn pirate. And what's with Jack being good? Honestly. And what they did to Norrington still doesn't sit too well with me. Only Will was the same. Ah, dear Will.
2. WHAT ON EARTH??? Elizabeth and Jack? Gross. And so against character. I couldn't believe they did that, it was so sickening. It just ruined the entire movie for me. I sort of liked it when they were on the island with the chest, but that whole thing ruined it...argh. Orli & Keira were so good together, and Elizabeth and Will were the model couple for me seeing the first movie. I absolutely loved them. Jack is just...eww. I liked Elizabeth so much, but in this movie, I couldn't stand her.
3. Hmm. The bad guys are a cursed group of pirates. Never seen that before.
4. I think one of the reasons I didn't like the movie was in the 1st one, the world is mostly good; there is a bit of evil that needs extiguishing. I really liked how England wasn't totally evil. A message was how civilization and piracy could co-exist, both being "good". In this movie, it was evil. Did I mention how much I loved Norrington's character (1st movie)? He was built so wonderfully. "[I can resist going after the black pearl] by remembering I serve others and not only myself." So different from the pirates, yet still admirable and understandable. He was so good, in my eyes. Without that good-man-doing-bad-things figure, England wasn't the same.
In the second movie, nowhere was safe. The entire world was dark, and there was only a bit of good, and even that was disappearing in some people. There were very few sunshine shots in DMC. I didn't like that.

Bleh, this has really taken a lot out of me. I'll write more later. I'm terribly sorry if I offended anyone here; I agree to disagree. For me this movie was a slap in the face for liking the first one.

You can't help how you feel ^^, if you didn't like it then you didn't and there's nothing wrong with that.

Okay, thanks. :)

I saw it during my vacation, and I felt so helpless. :( No one to rant to! The rest of my family didn't like it either, but they weren't crazy about the 1st one anyway. I would start to rant and they'd tell me to be quiet.

Ah, so good to be back at A-U again. :)

Aw, that's okay, everyone has their opinion. :)

I just went to watch it again today, and I paid more attention the to music this time...I'm sorry I didn't get the soundtrack before the movie came out.

That's alright we're behind you, even if we totally disagree. Though, how else would Commodore Norrington ended up? He did resigned and he made it harder on his life. So he's trying to put it back together by stealing Davy Jone's heart...that was kinda harsh.

The whole thing with Elizabeth and Jack didn't bug me too much. I mean at least it aint real life? That kiss was like long and hot! I've been chatting about liz and jack all over the internet! Instead of myself explaining it again, I'll just copy and paste from the imdb.com boards. The person above me explains it better than me.

i think there is definitely more to elizabeth's feelings than just wanting to save the rest of them from the craken. the flirtation between her and jack- even norrington pointed out that she seemed to be harbouring feelings. i think her nervousness/claims the compass wasn't working was because she saw it pointing to him and didn't want to admit to herself that she found being a pirate and an attraction to him. she was trying to tell him he was a good man deep down to vaidate her feelings, because she doens't want to believe she could feel attraction to a bad person. i think the kiss was something she wanted, but she realized the danger in it, and used it as a way to shackle him to the ship and remove herself from the temptation he caused her. she seemed broken-hearted after she did it.

whether it be lust, love, or a longing for a life of adventure and the feeling that jack represents it, the compass was definitely pointing to jack on the ship. we'll see how it plays out in the third movie. i must say i would love it if liz and jack ended up together. i feel will is a weak character and just feel that he wouldn't be adventurous at all if jack weren't around. liz would do better with a "real" pirate. but i won't make any assumptions.

living is easy with eyes closed... misunderstanding all you see

I totally agree with you obsidianmyst! Everyone is like omg! Drama drama drama! It's a movie for pete's sake. She does have a crush on Jack and does harbour some feelings for him. I don't care who she ends up with, but Capt. Jack Sparrow is awesome! I was thinking about that compass moment too! She's still thinking about that kiss in Tia Dalma's tree house.

You can find the immature and mature remarks at the imdb.com forums-

I know i'm probably the only one that feels this way but i feel terribly sad for Davy Jones. He went through so much with him not being able to be with the girl that he loved. I wish they had explained it more in the movie but it's just so heart breaking for me.

A couple times when there were close ups on his face i was close to crying because of the pain in his eyes, even the beginning of his theme on the soundtrack is terribly sad. He was capeable of showing emotion(something that Barbossa lacked in CotBP). A couple times it even looked like Davy was close to tears.

He just looks so sad sometimes and how he still has that music box, he's been dead for countless years, unable to be with the woman he loved and he still has that music box. It must of been heart wrenching. Some of you are probably like, how can she feel so sorry for that monster. But thats just it, love has made him the way he is. It's a very sad story and i really hope that they elaborate more on in in the third movie.
