I know, I know, Shameful really, i haven't read all the books yet.
But you have to remeber, not three eyears ago I used to dispise LOTR, Eru forgive me,
But now i have read the first and I am reading the second. Just thought I'd let you all know, coz I am really bored.
I love it, the characters are so differnet yet the same as in the movie, but i definately like the books better!

Awesome! I just finished rereading FotR, and I'm so glad I read it again. I tend to forget what the characters are really like, so I like Frodo again. The movie makes me dislike him - but I'm over that now.

I really need to reread RotK. My brother asked me about some minor plot detail that is different in the book from the movie and I didn't know! I need to know these things!
Good job mate! It takes a while to get through it the first time!

Lol, yeah, I like Frodo a little more in the Books, I hate him in the movies though, he just get's on my nerves, lol, and It wasn't my first attempt at reading them, I tried a few years back, before I'd seen the movie and Before I even liked LOTR, and I just said it was stupid and shut it forever lol, how could I? -shakes head shamefully- Thank Eru, Ardhoniel set me on the right path

Congratulations on the first reading Aduial-Galad! Also, good luck with finishing the 2nd and 3rd, I remember my first reading...though I loved and love the books, it could get overwhelming with info at times, too.

Great job, Aduial! Reading FotR was the first step in my LotR obsession. FotR is my favorite book of the trilogy!

Congrats on getting through book #1! I love the books, and am currently half way through re-reading the trilogy again. I always find new things in Tolkien's work that I don't remember or didn't notice before. I don't think they can get boring for me!

I know what you mean. That's where I'm at too and I'm on my first reading.
Yes, it is repeating that I hated LOTR before I read the books or saw the movies. Shame on me.
but now I love the movies and i'm loving the books so far!

I've barely started it and I've had the book for 2 years.
I'm on The Return of THe King right now. on like the 5 chapter. so I guess I have a long way to go.

It is interesting how we can go for years in our lives and not even know such wonderful literature and compelling stories exist.
It is something how LotR reaches out and grabs us so powerfully.

Did you mean Fellowship Of The Ring? Because that's the first one ><
And I completely agree, Sinbearer, personally, I think we should have to read them in English at school or something, because they are just such amazing books, I mean, one man, in the entire world, created a world of his own as well as the languages and the history, and it's just amazing you almost wonder whether it isn't fiction at all and that he's actually been there!
It's just amaxing and he continually amazes me, I'm up the entmoot in TTT, and it's just like being there almost! Living the moment, and for some reason, I always try to imagine him writing the books, to see how he did it.
But yeah, I think he is just amazing and i don't know how i ever hated them!

I was just reading in FotR today and found myself thrilling again at the depth of Tolkien's understanding and wisdom. It makes me cry! As far as I am concerned there are very few books ever written that are as deep and wonderful.
