I'll try to explain, but I'm really bad at explaining!
Btw, I have PS.
I cut the images together and went to >>Gaussian Blur (with 3,0). Then I set the layer to "difference" and got that strange effect. And finally I added several textures and brush effects.

Sorry 4 double posting, but I have a question. Is it considered a blend if you only have 1 pic, buty it's kinda faded, & then faded text? If it is, then I'll enter this one. If not, just let me know, & i'll do a diff. 1. working on my 2nd one!!
