Mort groaned and walked away from the door. Not taking a double glance at the boot that was in the frame of it.
He couldn't keep this up with Mr. Shooter...he wanted the man to just leave him alone.

"Mr. Rainey, don't you walk away from me!" Mr. Shooter raised his voice...almost to the point of a yell. He never entered the house, but instead stayed outside of the door. "All right, if that's the way you're gunna treat me...." He then slammed the door shut violently.

Eric looked at Mort and said, "First I would like to tell you what a pleasure it is to meet a great author as yourself. My writing skills are limited to feeble poems. Now we must get to business. I understand that you filed a report regarding a Mr. Shooter. I have the report in my office right now. Would you like to talk to me about him?"

Mort glanced away from the door, feeling a shiver run down his spine. He swallowed hard, then glanced at Eric.
"Uh..." He frowned his eyebrows. "I don't like talking about this...makes me think of her and it's hard for me."
He cleared his throat and headed back into the kitchen, making sure his corn hadn't burned.

After Shooter shut the door, he walked toward the kitchen window and stared inside.
He then looked at Mort and pointed to the cornfield mockingly. A wide grin grew slowly on his face and he placed one finger up to his lips and shook his head.

Shannon was standing beside the pot of corn, making sure that it didn't get messed up. She looked up and saw Mort walk in with a police officer. She sighed deeply and looked back down to the corn.

Lillian was listening to Eric and Mort discussing the past events of the dissapearance of Mort's wife. She sighed and took a seat neck to Shannon, her eyes going from Mort to the bowl of corn. She dipped her finger into the cooling water and twirled the golden vegatable around the water, her cheek resting on her other hand.
