Okay, I'm too lazy to write out my thoughts on the subject again, so I'm just going to paste what I've written about Elizabeth:

Quote:
I don't hate Elizabeth for what she did. Granted, she could have been nicer and less sneaky about it, but she basically had two options. She could let Jack come with them and doom them all (since the Kraken was, indeed, after him alone), or she could leave him to die and save the lives of the remaining few. I honestly don't know what I'd do in her position, but what she did took tremendous courage and willpower. From the look on her face, she wasn't telling the truth when she said, "I'm not sorry." She's in a worse position mentally than any of the other characters because she's suddenly questioning who she is. All of her life, she's done what's right and always considered herself to be a good person, and now she's responsible for the death of a friend. What's more, she willingly tricked him and made the conscious decision to chain him to that mast, then lied about it to the others. His last thing to say to her was, "Pirate," and I think that really shook her up. Regardless of how good-looking and occasionally moral they can be, pirates are nonetheless a horrible group of people. They are self-centered, generally immoral, and ruthless enough to do whatever is necessary to get what they want. Suddenly, she sees that in herself, and she's scared. What if she's not the good person she thought she was? Does this change everything? Even though it was a very, very rough draft (hardly even enough to be considered an indicator of the script), one of my favorite lines in that early script of PotC 3 was Elizabeth telling Will that she didn't deserve him. She feels horrible about herself and needs a way to redeem herself in her own eyes. That's why they're setting out to save Jack in the third one. She has to prove to herself that she's still a good person.

Well personally I felt extremely uncomfortable during the kissing scene - it just didn't feel right. It didn't match the whole Pirate atmosphere. Ok, manacle him to the ship if you feel you have to darlin' but for goodness sakes don't kiss him and ruin the moment of Jack's impending doom in the process.

^agreed! I felt exactly the same as you Meldawen. Gah, I really liked Elizabeth in CotBP, but she was portrayed so differently in DMC. And I hated the Jack-Liz thing. I felt like I was going to barf.
Yeah, chain him to the ship, but must you make out so heavily? Honestly. Who in their right mind would give up WILL for Jack? ;)

I know! Only a crazy person! Will is the most awesomest person EVER and Jack...well...the other characters may frequently call his a 'good man' but was anyone else furious when he left Will on a ship full of murderous undead pirates for two days and felt nary a twinge about it? And then he LIED to Elizabeth? And asked her to marry him? He KNEW she was promised to Will! What was he trying to do, kill the poor guy? I guess I should be feeling animosity towards Jack, not Elizabeth...but still...

My sentiments EXACTLY ;)

Let's keep this discussion to PotC 3, aye? Likes and dislikes about DMC would be better suited for its respective thread. ;)

I loved the second movie but i'm a little freaked out because Barbosa AND that undead monkey are BOTH still alive! Did we not SEE Barbosa drop dead?! Can someone please explain that to me?

Regardless of the fact that I'm completely confused, I'm really looking forward to seeing the third movie. They're half done making it already, because apparently they were filming it at the same time as DMC.

My mom thinks that COTBP was the best one and that the second one made her feel like throwing up. Did anyone else feel like throwing up? It wasn't THAT slimey... was it?

Well I'm excited to see what'll happen in PotC3, and also to see if the movie is up to my expectations. I really can't wait to see it...

Well whatever happens Tia has got something to do with Barbossa coming back. It was one of the biggest shocks in my film history when he walked down those stairs! I'm lucking forward to seeing how Will & Co manage to serve under him and what happens when they find Jack - do they work together against Davey Jones....or does Barbossa only help to get the Pearl back?

Yeah, I can totally see quite a bit of tension between Jack and Barbossa, or even Jack and Will. It actualy wasn't a shock to me, I knew Barbossa was in it SOMEWHERE, but the kiss was a TOTAL shock. Oops. I'm back on DMC. Staying on topic here...these are, basically, my hopes for the third movie:

1) Elizabeth tells Jack that she never loved him and marries Will. I'd setlle for her just marrying him but it would be good if she told Jack to buzz off first.
2) Bootstrap Bill is restored and Will gets his father back.
3) SOMEONE actually dies, never to return. Maybe Barbossa or Davy Jones. I might even settle for Jack.

Yes, I knew about Barbossa but I presumed it to be a flashback scene, so when it came to the final minutes I thought everyone had been mistaken or it would be a deleted scene.

I for one DO NOT want Jack to die...maybe if Will died...that would work.
