As Mort fell and hit his head, the last thing he saw was the boy staring at him, on his hands and knees, with blood dripping from his lips. He laughed mockingly and then disappeared.

Shannon's eyes widened and she gasped. "MORT!" She yelled and ran up the stairs to him. She was at his side in a instant and she looked over his head injury. She bit her lip and slowly gathered him into her arms. "Come on..." She whispered and slowly dragged him down the stairs.

Lillian gasped when Mort fell, as Shannon ran up to him Lilli searched the bathroom for bandages and soaked some towels in warm water, bringing them all out while Shannon carried the unconscious Mort down the stairs.

Mort groaned as he drifted in and out of consciousness. As his mind was in this state, old memories filtered his thoughts bringing flashbacks of months before....

"Do you,...do you think things would've been different if we hadn't lost the baby?" said Amy's voice on the other end of the phone.

"Both know what you did. We'll find those bodies. We'll tie you to them, and you're going away." The cop says to Mort.

Mort moaned again as the flashbacks haunted his mind even in the unconscious state of mind.

Shannon gently set Mort on his couch and slowly took a warm cloth from Lillian. She was worried sick about Mort. She bit her lip and gently placed it on his head wound. She ran her fingers through his hair and moved it out of his face. "Come on, Mort... be strong..." She whispered to him.

In the visions of Mort's mind, a dark figure of a man with a large farmer hat stood in front of the cornfield. He held a shovel and laughed. "Her death will be a mystery even to me..." he said evily.
A flash of white light changed the scene. A young boy sat in Amy's lap next to the secret window upstairs.

Shannon seemed quite puzzled by what Mort had said. She raised an eyebrow and then it hit her. Amy's death. She bit her lip and continued tending to Mort's wounds.

Mort's eyes suddenly shot open and he jolted upwards from Shannon's lap, as if he had awoken from a nightmare. The eyes under the thick framed glasses searched the ceiling and his breath quickened.

Shannon looked over Mort's face and rested her hands on his back. "It's okay, Mort. Everything is fine." She told him, softly. She sighed and put the washcloth over his cut on his head again.
