Well, mostly we just share poems we've written, and comment on eachother's poetry. (Like the Inklings, sort of. ) Here's the latest one I've written...
Of Frodo and Arwen
She gave her grace away to him--
It sparkled in her tears:
When white ship passed from Arda's rim,
She'd stay through fading years:
Yet a fateful love within her dwells--
She again forsook bright Valmar's bells,
To release his heart from Morgul spells,
That he should live anew.
They told her, "You must seek the quay"--
He wearied neath his load:
But love will never pass away--
And death would end his road:
To Middle-earth she bound her fate--
He felt the Burden's growing weight--
Its waxing he must soon abate,
If both should live anew.
All light and laughter from him passed--
Her trembling hands grew cold:
As both lay dying at the last--
Lives bound to cursed gold--
The King fought hordes, of vict'ry shorn,
To draw them from the Waste forlorn,
Where the Gardner bore his friend so worn,
That both might live anew.
Two stars in heaven's tapestry,
Like Varda's lights they shine:
He'll sail soon beyond the Sea--
With her loved one she'll entwine:
When Darkness came, it dimmed their sheen,
But Ringbearer and Elvenqueen
Are clad again in Springtime green,
To live and love anew.

Of course you can! I'm curious to see some of your poems!
A new one by me:
Eternity's call
Dark night lay round me
as I wakened from sleep.
Faint from a distance
the sound of a voice came to me
never heard, but yet well known
like rising from ancient memories
it echoed in my mind
waiting for me, calling.
And so I got up in the dark
and took my path through woods
passed by long forgotten places
broken buildings whose pointed shapes
glanced through the black veil of night
I did not halt or even look back
I knew where to go where someone was
waiting for me, calling.
At last the trees waned
and like a thousand lights
the reflection of stars far above
lay on the shimmering mirror of an endless sea.
And there, in front of me
out of a dream, as it seemed,
a golden winged ship lay on the shore
waiting for me, calling.
I knew what I had to do
without even a word I stepped forward
and went aboard and never returned.
As the ship silently left the shore
faint in the distance gloomed
the first light of dawn
and I felt that it was
waiting for me, calling.
Slowly the land faded away
and all my past seemed hidden by a veil
there was no reality than this journey
and everything that was lying ahead.
I was sailing from East to West
and saw white seagulls in my company
hearing their endless cry
waiting for me, calling.
Constantly night was drawn away
in the eastern sky grew the light
glittering foam on the dancing waves
like jewels that showed me the way
And as the first sunrays gloomed in the sky
like silver glass in the distance I saw
a far green country with white shores
waiting for me, calling.
As we drew near I could see a small shape
Suddenly a red and golden light loomed
and the sun made her way above the horizon
Now I saw, and I knew
it was you, standing on the shore
arms outstreched, welcoming me home
and understood you had always been
waiting for me, calling.
Parted we will be never again...

Ok here is one , I hope you like it
I will pass , it will pass
It will pass , it will pass My life and yours , will pass
People comes and others go We will pass , like every one before us Passed
Every one pass , I will pass , you will pass And our life which became our pain Will pass Without cure we will pass
Love is our cure , so did you found it to pass Because without it you will not pass
O love , love is the right pass , To cure the pain to pass Or pain will last , and will not pass That is how you will see , From your past .
But I am telling you I will pass , you will pass It will pass , but with without love We will feel pain , while we pass
It will pass , we all mortals so we will pass Our pain will not last It will pass , it will pass Like a trian it will pass May be you catching it , or may be not But any way , it will pass Even if you let it to pass , without hope love and friendshipe This long crowl life will pass It will pass , it will pass , through the rain We will pass , I will pass , and the long life will pass
Through the geat , we will pass But do not be late to pass Because we all sould pass So be the first to pass To get rid of pain Be the first to Pass
It will psaa , it will pass our lives will pass So learn from your pain It will not last We will not last Because we all will Pass
Like some one said passera , passera Even if you only sing LA , LA , LA
It will pass , and it is ok to take your time Before your lives pass But at the end it will pass
Through the rift between us we will pass Rift full of memories will not last It will pass , it will pass
But learn from it before it pass , and believe in you Life will not last It will pass , it will pass
Like they said passera , life will pass Without we even feel or know It will pass , not one will last
It will pass , it will pass our joy and happiness Will not last for ever , O who will last ? So it will pass , slowly or fast It I will pass Because no thing will last It will pass , it will pass

Wow, that has a lot of play on words and interesting rhyme. I like what i think the poem is trying to say--that while everything will pass away, what matters is that we love and are loved.
Forever: As i said in the Elijah/Frodo club, very nice. It's a lot like what i would write.

You're welcome. Some of the best advice i can give you (or anyone) is: don't get discouraged. Poetry takes practice.
Speaking of which, I wrote one a few days back which is from Frodo's point of view, when Sam's holding him on Mount Doom. (I love that scene. ) It's actually a song (as opposed to a poem), inspired by Evanescence's My Last Breath. It has a lot more blank verse than i usually write, but i'm happy with how it turned out.
Sweet Sunshine
I feel your arms about me--
My last defense against the Dark:
Your heart resounds and leads my own,
And by your tears, I know you hark
To the voice that is dying
(Fading to silence)--
To the soul that is sighing
(My final breath):
To the heart that is crying
"Return to me myself!"--
It echoes through the Void...
Hold on to all my being,
And tell me who I am again:
Speak my name when I forget--
Your tears, they fall like summer rain
For the voice that is dying
(Fading to silence)--
For the soul that is sighing
(My final breath):
For the heart that is crying
"Return to me myself!"--
It echoes through the Void...
Sweet Sunshine, come find me--
Lost and so lonely:
Wake me from this nightmare!
You will not let me falter--
I see it in your gentle eyes:
You carry me unto the Flame--
And by your courage, let me rise
For my voice, it is dying
(Fading to silence)--
My soul, it is sighing
(My final breath):
And my heart, it is crying,
"Return to me myself!"--
It echoes through the Void...
But I know you hear me--
With love you bandage all my wounds:
Bear me with you to the End--
My Road upon you rests,
Sweet Sunshine.

I love your poem, Eariel! I love how you repeated that one stanza over and over again, and that effect with the parantheses was refreshing as well. it's also nice how you made "Sweet Sunshine" the last line as it's the title of the poem (really...? how observant of me). I like how you gave it enough rhyme and rhythm to make it flow by smoothly.

Thanks! It's actually meant as a song, so that stanza was the chorus. (The parentheses thing was inspired by the line "Hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)" in My Last Breath. I love that song.) I wasn't sure at first whether 'sweet sunshine' would fit as the last line, but i already had it earlier in the song, and i decided i liked it in there both times, as well as for the title.
Arawn, don't feel guilty! We all go through phases where we don't write as much (or at all). Inspiration comes and goes.
Thanks Alatariel, i will keep going.
