Mirima accepted it, "I am glad that the secret has been so well protected. We are all indebted to the many Speakers who have guarded this small key so well. Yet I believe that the previous Speaker may not have even known the origins of the key!"

"i believe that he did not, hence why he shared so little information on this matter." said the speaker. "

"Agreed. Now, with no further ado, will you lead the way to the tower, Speaker? I believe you know it's location better than all of us. Once I have retrieved the article, then Oaklock may speak to his end." Mirima smiled warmly, a hint of something behind her eyes.

"Of course,"said Solostoran "Follow me." From here, he led them back down to the 'throne' room, through a secret door behind the throne, up some stairs, up, up up, up round, up, lost, up, up. and, finally, to a ornatley carved door.
"we are at the top of the tower of the sun" said the speaker. He stood aside. "Mirima. This is the door that you seek."

Isashaen's heart thumped. She was so close to success. But what was she to do? Her senses blurred, making her shake her head. What was happening to her? She watched the door open and stepped forward. But for some reason she was denied entrance to the chamber.
(Question: What is in this book? I'm brain dead)

(Um, I was thinking sort of like in the Magician's Nephew, where there is a word that destroyed the whole world. These are words and spells of power, ancient and deadly. Feel free to play around with it, I am really quite making it up!)
Mirima paused before the chamber door, remembering the sacred words carefully. Before she could say them though, Isashaen tried to enter the doorway but was unsucessful. She smiled and spoke softly, "Mahrinu ishantan dravir escabar." There seemed to be no effect, but Mirima just walked confidently into the room with no resistance. The others followed just as easily. On a stand in the very center of the windowless room sat a large book bound in perfect black leather, not marked with a speck of dust or wear, despite the ages in this room with no disturbance.

Oaklock followed silently. He recognized those words, he did not know why. They were the words of magic, no doubt, but... twisted, evolved from elven magic somehow. He shrugged internely to himself an stood inside the room to the Lady Mirima's right.

Isashaen was puzzled. She hadn't been able to enter the chamber. Now she was inside and yet she seemed to be trapped inside a stream pulling her steadily backwards. She fought against it and murmured all sorts of words to try and fight it. At last it stopped and she stood in front of the pedal with the book. It was old, bound in read leather and read: "Beware You, who attempt to read me. I am the beginning and I am the end."

(right, lets get this going again)
Isashaen shrugged. She felt torn between the need to open the book and the urge to back away - fast. Slowly she reached out and touched the cover. It was velvet, but seemed to cling to her hand. Then a light streamed out from the cover to spell out words.
(did the book have a name??)

(No, I don't think so, at least not yet. Sorry I haven't posted!)
Mirima watched Isashaen intently. "This is the Book of Alphari. A dangerous power it has, for those unable to control it. For some, this book is a beginning. For others, an end. No one knows which it will be until they open the book." She walked towards Isashaen and the Book of Alphari, concious of the power they were both emitting. "I do not think that to be wise, young one." At her words, the light snapped off and the room was calm again. She smiled slightly, "Did it speak to you, Isashaen?"

"Wh- What just happened?" Oaklock asked, stunned. "For I felt a great... disturbance, a ripple perhaps, but it was so strong... I... I felt it." he said, quite weak from his experiance.
