Hailey heard her alarm clock go off, and punched the snooze button, and literally rolled out of bed. She was NOT a morning person. She got up and stepped in the shower only to put it on hot, then sudenly cold to wake her up. That barely worked. When she entered her room, she noticed she was slightly late
"Horses," she said instead of cursing. She danced around the room, putting on her cloths. She didn't bother brushing her hair, and put it in a messy pony-tail. She was late for being early to the stabe, since equestrian was her first class. The thirtteen yearold red head got her bag ready, and put her flute on her messy bed. When Elly ran into the dorm, Hailey smiled tiredly, "see your a morning person. Do you know what horse your riding for the evaluation? I think I'm riding Pirate!"

(( hehe im excited yes, Eru I made it so that were room mates and i hope you don't mind but i have also said that i have been going to this schol for a year but didn't make the jumping twam before. If that's not ok then forget the part in my post))

Hannah heard the other two chatting away in the dorm room and realized that she was LATE! She had slept in and no one had bothered to wake her. All the girls in this dormroom were taking equestrian and they knew it was their first class. Hannah looked up to see Hailey and Elly dressed. She jumped out of bed and very quickly put on her Jodphurs and boots and an old shirt.

She heard the two talking about what horse they were riding and Hannah quickly said she was riding Shadow. Shadow was a gorgeous jumper who only let Hannah and a few instructors ride him. Hannah had been going to this school for 1 year and last year didn't ake the jumping team but was determined to make it this year with Shadow. " Wait, hold up girls! Let me come with you." Hannah yelled to them as they were walking out the door.
She quickly jumped ot of bed with her chaps half on and messy hair.

Vicki walked over to the other girls, quickly braiding her hair, "I'm so excited!" she exclaimed, "I can't wait to find out what division I'm in! But I really hope they let me ride Mocha," Vicki spoke of her own horse that she had brought with her to Oak Ridge, "I really don't want to do the evaluation on a strange horse."

Elly smiled. "Yeah, Miss White told me I'm going to ride Gracie. She's a cute bay Quarter Horse." Elly said. She took a pair of beige breeches and tall socks and went into the bathroom to change. Riding class was first, and she'd hate to be late.


(Ummm equestrian is first class of the day. you have to be there to be evaluated...i'll hold those. just play along! )

Elly ran down to the stables. The stable was now bustling with life, girls ooing and aahing over the horses. Elly hurried to the large tackroom where Miss White was assigning horses and saddles.
"Hi Elly, why don't you use that close contact saddle on the far left. Gracie can use that D-ring snaffle on the wall too." Miss White said warmly. She turned back to a student and moved out of the room.
Elly groomed Gracie and saddled her up. She stood very still while Elly did up the girth.
"Good girl, Gracie!" Elly patted her and slid the bridle on. "All set. Let me grab my helmet," She told the mare and buckled her IRH. She led Gracie out of the stall and into the warm-up ring where all of the girls were trotting and cantering, and even taking a few practice jumps. Elly mounted and walked Gracie on the rail.

Hannah ran into the tack room to get her tack. " Hi Miss. White. I'm trying out for the JJT thies year and i am pumped. I'll get Shadows things and go tack him up." Miss. White said hi back and gave Hannah the ok to ride Shadow.

Hannah went to Shadows stall and poked her head in. The instant he saw her he walked over to her and let her pet him. She opened the stall door and went inside she groomed him quickly and put on his tack. She led him out to the arena where all the girls were warming up to be evaluated.

She mounted Shadow and wlkaed him on the inside track so others could canter and trot around the outside. She then got him into a trot and he was so proud. I'm sure he felt like the top horse.

Elly urged Gracie into a canter. The Quarter Horse had a pretty long stride for being the breed that she was. She was very collected, tucking herself in properly and moving on the bit. Elly smiled. She turned towards the practice jump. It was a two foot vertical.
"Vertical!" Elly called out, so people would know she was taking it. Elly adjusted Gracie's sides and encouraged Gracie to jump it. 3 strides away, Elly was looking over the jump and getting ready to slide into two-point,
3, 2, 1 up! Elly thought in her head. Gracie soared over the jump and landed gracefully, switching leads for Elly.
"Good girl!" Elly exclaimed, storoking the mare strongly on her neck. Gracie bent her head around and nudged Elly's leg.
"You're perfect!" Elly said. She picked up a resting trot on the rail and smiled. Gracie was perfect, their personalities so similar. For once, Elly had found a match.

Hailey smiled, grabbed her helmet and ran out the door. Whe was last to get asigned a horse, and held her breath to find out what Miss. Wight gave her.
"Hailey is it? You get Pirate, and that saddle and briddle," she pointed to black jumping tack, one of the few last saddles on the wall.
"yesss" Hailey wispered, she grabbed the tack, and entered Pirate's stall. Hailey loved pirates, anyone could tell by her black shirt she wore now, but loved Pirate even more. Somehow the two conected at first sight of each other. Hailey groomed and tacked him quickly, and skillfully.

Hailey was last, and almost late out into the jumping ring. She trotted Dragon around in the line. The big black thoroughbred was highstrung and tried to get away with bighting at the grass, but Hailey saw through his tricks and stopped him. She headed to a crossrail.
"Crossrail," she called so others would know she was jumping it.
'4,3,2,1, up' she thought, and flew over the jump, Pirate's ears pirked...

Vicki led Mocha into the arena, surveying the busy scene as she mounted. She warmed up a bit before heading to jump. After taking the vertical a few times, she saw a cross-rail and a spread jump placed a few strides away from each other.
"Cross rail to spread!" she called. Mocha took the combination beautifully. Vicki couldn't help but smile. She and Mocha were a perfect pair. She wanted to make the JJT so bad...

Hannah and Shadow took a practice jump. Hannah thought she would warm im up on the cross-rail first. "Cross-rail!" Hannah yelled. Her and Shadow were approaching it and Hannah leaned back up to the jump. As he wentr over it Hannah was in two point and she leaned to the left and pulled the left rain a little so that Shadow would land on the correct lead. He landed beautifully and his form over the jump felt gorgeous. Hannah then went to jump the vertical and Shadow jumped it yet again beautifully.

She was hoping to God that she would make the JJT.

Hannah saw Miss. White come out and she told all the girls to halt their horses and walk over to her.

Hannah followed instructions and walked over to stand around Miss. white so she could hear her.

Scarlett skidded on her skateboard, late again for lessons. She watched the lesson without interest. "Great" she thought sarcastically.

Ms. White called on some of the girls that were here last year and the year before first. She asked them to go jump the small course of jumps laid out in a seperate arena. It was a small course of only 5 jumps because she had to test all these girls. Come of them didn't jump yet so they just alked around and cantered and trotted for their evaluation.

It was Hannah's turn. She walked over to the other arena where the course was. She got Shadow into a nice canter and approached the first jump. He went over it beautifully. Now for the second jump a taller vertical and Shadow sped up and jumped it graciously. Now for the third, he cantered up to it and started at a slow gallop it was a fake water jump and he had to jump extra long for it. He stretched over it and Hannah put her hands so far forward. He landed just after the pit. the fourth and the fifth came easy enough. It was a clear round he bumbed one pole but didn't knock it over.

Hannah gave hima a big pat and let him walk around for a little bit she watched the other girls take their tests.

Scarlett stormed over, sagging against the fence and watched the girls ride boredly.What had she deserved to end up here? Who was it this time? Another girl, thought it would boost herself to ride? Humph, Scarlett thought, I gotta a skateboard for that.

Hailey, of course, was one of the last. She trotted to the arena, he side stipped a bit before Hailey got Pirate to a canter, but Hailey stopped him, and jumped the first easily. The taller verticle of the second was no problem. Hailey got Pirate into a slow gallop before she came to the third, water jump. Hailey counted strides in her head, '3,2,1, up'

Pirate landed on the other side with plenty of room to spare. The next was good, and Pirate sidestepped before jumping the last, but cleared it. As he cantered around the edge, he gave a small rear as in celebrating, and Hailey had to luaph at him, and patted his neck as he bobbed his head...
