It was Elly's turn for the evaluation. She saw an encouraging nodd from Miss White, and nudged Gracie's sides. What if she didn't make at least advanced? She sighed thoughtfully. The last thing she wanted to do was be nervous and freak Gracie out. She found the confidence inside her and picked up a collected canter. The first jump was a low oxer. Elly stretched up and Gracie tucked her legs underneath her. The second jump, a 3 foot vertical, was 6 strides away. Elly sat up in the saddle and encouraged Gracie with her legs. Gracie gathered herself and pushed over it.
"Ugh, short spot!" Elly groaned quietly and lengthened to the water jump. She watched Gracie scale it carefully and encouraged her with her aids. Nervously, Gracie got a long spot and thrusted herself over the jump.
Rebalancing herself, Elly jumped the fifth jump, a 3 foot oxer. They cleared it, but Elly thought she had done horrible. But it wasn't her opinion that mattered. It was all up to Miss White. The girls that had already been evaluated were excused to get untacked.
Elly groomed Gracie carefully and have her a final pat before heading up to the indoor where the evaluations were.

Hailey took a long while untacking Pirate. She was in no hurry to find out if she had made it. She stayed next to his stall, petting him, and feeding him carrots, she talked softly to him.
"You did good, Pirate..."

Hannah and Shadow walkd back to the stables. She untacked him and once ll the girls were done with the was stall went to wash him. He loved being washed and splashed the water with his hooves and thrust is head about into the water. Hannah was laughing and everyone was wondering why. She didn't care what other people thought though. Once she was done she sweat scrapped him off and took him back to his little house. She saw Hailey and Elly waiting by their horses. Hannah went into Shadows stall and hugged him and stroked him. He has a good boy and had done a very god job.

Elly went back to watch. Miss White was making an announcement.
"I will announce who made what unit at the ceremony tonight in the Assmbly Center. Please make sure to come." Miss White smiled and finished up.

Elly went back to the stable. She found Gracie pulling at her hay net. Elly smiled and walked along, looking at some other horses. She saw a tall bay mare in the back of her stall. She eyed Elly warily and then walked over. She nuzzled Elly's outstretched palm with her long whiskers.
"Hey there, girl, you don't look so good" Elly noticed the gashes on her hips and the rain rot forming on her back. She frowned and stood back. She didn't have a brass name plate like the rest of the horses. Elly decided to go ask Miss White about the mare.
"Miss White, sorry to bother you right now, but I think it's important." Elly said.
"Elly, you did wonderful today. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't make it on the jumping team. But tryouts are a while away. Anyway, what seems to be the problem?" Miss White said, her smile fading a little.
Elly led her to the mare's stall and asked about her.
"This is Starlight. She's a pretty young mare, Thoroughbred for sure. I think I remember somone saying she had been neglected, and had bowed a tendon. She's fine now, but she is really beat up. Does it bother you?" Miss White said, stroking the mare's face.
"No, but I think she needs someone to love and care for her. And she definately needs a bath. Is she a jumper?" Elly asked, letting herself into the stall with Miss White's permission. Starlight walked over cautiously.
"I'm not sure if she jumps, but she does need some definate TLC. She sure seems to like you, Elly." Miss White said.
"TLC is right. I wish I could help her," Elly said sadly. She patted the mare and let herself out of the stall.
"Elly, you'd be perfect for the job. If you want, you can bathe her today and we'll start work on her this week. You can jump Gracie in the lessons, too." Miss White suggested.
"Oh, that's be great!" Elly exclaimed. She smiled and said goodbye. She went up to her dorm to think of how to help Starlight. First she would need to change into her rubber washing boots before she have her a bath. She changed and headed back out to the stable so Starlight could get used to her.

Vicki thought her run over the jumps went fairly well, but on the way back to the barn, she started thinking of all the things she could have done better. This put her in an agitated mood that Mocha picked up on as she unsaddled. The mare shifted and pawed the floor of her stall, something she didn't normally do. Vicki struggled to calm herself as she walked down to the tack room to put away her brushes, saddle, and bridle. She was much more relaxed as she came to put Mocha out in one of the pastures. Then she went up to her dorm.

Hannah went back to her dorm to find all the other girls waiting there except for Elly who had gone to take care of Starlight. They all started chit chatting about their run and how they did and such. Hannah thought she did ok but sometimes Shadow didn't land on the correct lead she could have helped him out a bit moreby leaning ont he correct rein as she went over. Hannah then went to the showers to take a shower. She smelt like a horse and didn't want to go to class smelling like one. ( Even though in her opinion they smelt wonderful)

She washed up and puton some fresh school clothes and walked to her first class.

Hailey didn't bother with a shower. She just changed from riding boots and pants, to tennis shoes and jeans. She grabbed her school stuff, and hung out in the dorm till it was time to leave...

Elly looked at her watch. She didn't have time to take care of Starlight before her next class. She saw Miss White and told her.
"It's okay, Elly. If you don't mind missing your next class, then I could give you a late pass and say that you were helping me out. What do you have next?" Miss White asked.
"History...I don't mind missing it because we're just watching a movie. Thank you so much, Miss White!" Elly said and went back to Starlight's stall.
Starlight was getting used to Elly, just because she was around so much. Elly led Starlight out and into the wash racks. She turned on the hose and let it run all over Starlight's body. Starlight turned her head to watch Elly, but the nervousness had left her eyes. Now she was curious, alert, and happy at the same time.
Elly finished gently spraying the excess hair away from her body. It slid off, along with other clumps of mud and dirt.
"You're going to look so pretty, Starlight. All the boys are going to love you!" Elly said patting the mare. Starlight's eyes were closing, and Elly knew she was dozing off. She clipped the lead rope and led her back to the barn. She ran the sweat scraper gently along her body, around the scabs and rain rot on her back. She didn't want to hurt Starlight. It was a hot day, and Starlight had shavings in her stall, so Elly put her away when she was a little bit damp.
"See you later, Starlight." Elly said and headed towards Miss White.
"I called your teacher and let him know. You have time to freshen up, and then hurry to your histroy class." Miss White smiled and walked away.
Wlly hurried up to the showers. She went back to her room and put on a fresh set of her uniform clothes, a white polo shirt with a navy skirt. She slipped on her navvy blue Converse and brushed her hair. She hurried to her next class and sat down.

Hailey went to her next class, math. Hailey sat down in her seat near the middle. Today they were doing mutiple step equations in fractions. Hailey quickly did the hom work in class, since they had time to do so. Five minutes left of class, and Hailey started reading her book that she was reading that she was more than half way through and had started yesterday...

Hannah loved Science she was taking Equine Science and Biology. She was doing a lab by herself when this girl came over to her and asked her about the horse riding tryout at the school. Hannah told her they had already happened but to try and ask Ms. White about it anyways to see if you could start lessons.

Science was over and Hannah hurried to her dorm to talk to everyone.

Elly picked up her bag and went to her next class, english. She sat down in a seat in the front and pulled out her supplies. After it was over, she had a lunch break, and hurried out to the cafeteria. She wasn't feeling hungry, but she grabbed two apples from the cafeteria and hurried out to the stable.
"Well, Elly, I seem to see you everywhere!" Miss White laughed. Elly smiled and fed Starlight an apple.
"I guess," Elly said. She stroked the mare and examined a scar on her neck. She frowned and gave her a final pat before going to give Gracie an apple.
"Hey, Gracie." Elly said. "Sorry, I've been paying attention to Starlight. She needs me to take care of her. Atleast some other people love you," Elly said sadly, thinking of Starlight. She looked at her cell phone and decided she should get ready for her next class. After all of her classes were over, the assembly would start and her equestrian fate at Oak Ridge would be decided.
