The sounds of the snips and clips started up again, as if the young character in the shadows was just as frightened as the girl.
His tiny, soft spoken voice said again, "Don't go..."

Lucy didn't quite know what to do. She grabbed a hold of a long lock of brown hair and twisted it nervously in her fingers. Small tears streamed down her face....but she was not sobbing.
She backed up against the hard wall next to the fireplace and fixed her eyes in the direction of the shadows. "Who are you? What do you want?" she said in a frightened way.

The shadow's breathing quickened. He wanted to move towards the small, beautiful figure across the room, but he noticed her tears sliding down her soft cheeks...she looked so scared, and he knew it would be worse if she saw him again.
"No..." he said. He wanted her to know he wouldn't hurt her, but that's how he explained himself the best he could.

This confused Lucy because it was not the answer to her question she had just asked. She remained where she was, but the fear began to subside.
She lowered her hands by her sides and placed them against the hard wall behind her.

The figure slowly took a step forward. Then another, and then another. He wanted to try it again, he wanted to see the tiny creature up close and in person, she looked like a flower amongst thorns, and he didn't want the little flower to go...

With every sound of footsteps, Lucy flinched and blinked. She felt like a mouse that was now trapped in a corner. There was no way she would make it down the stais in time.....he might catch her.....
She slowly slid down the wall and sat on the floor with frightened eyes.

The young 'man' stepped into the light of the moon once more, hoping the little flower wouldn't run away.
The gaunt figure looked fragile, and shaken. The leather suit reflected ever so slighty, but not nearly as much as the 'knives' in his hands did. He felt his insides tremble as he dreaded seeing her leave.

Lucy began to wimper, under her breath, as she watched the man with the knives appear again. Pushing herself even further against the wall, tears filled her eyes and her breathing was heavy.

The skinny leather covered man shrinked slightly back. He saw her tiny, pretty eyes glisten with water. He knew what that meant. His inventor had told him it was the only way a human would express their soul's sadness. Something that Edward could never do....
"I'm sorry..." he said in a silent voice.
