Lavoria In the days of middle earth when inhabitants (elves, men, orcs, dwarves, ents and hobbits ect.) were creating civilizations, there was one that was not noticed, or maybe not even remembered today, by the others. These were the Lavoriens. These people were very closely related to elves. With this came a trust and a bond between the two. These people have their own differences from the others. Their weapons are not the same as the elves but they have similar looks, abilities and languages. They wield in battle a bow and a curved black stave. They treat their bows with care as an elf would for his and they are created from the best lumber of the elves. The lavoriens were just as good as elves in archery, war, and a monitions amount of other things also. This is because they trained each other out of kindness because they were related that they should help each other in the best way they could. The bows made, for the lavorien army, were either made by the elves or the lavoriens by the soldiers choice. Staves are usually overlooked when going to battle, and when wielding a weapon they were never thought of. Usually they would break very easily under the might of any skill, sword, or foe. But these are one of the many magical wonders of middle-earth. These staves would never break, no matter how hard the smote, hew, or protected they never dented. The lavoriens are the only race that could ever have a skill to wield one of these. They can put such force behind these weapons that the result is fatal. Often though, their staffs would be thrown from their reach. This was a problem. They then decided to carry a pair of knives with them. One on each of their hips. When their staves were thrown from them they would run up to an enemy, draw their knives and cut their throat. Their blades are the second sharpest blades in middle earth. The first of course, are the elfish swords. Even though the lavoriens trusted the elves, they never told anyone how to made these sacred weapons except Galadriel. They believed that this should be only a lavorien tradition. They made a pact with Galadriel so she would tell no one. No one, not even some of the lavoriens, ever new what it was. Some people tried to figure out how they were made. Some believe they were blessed by Galadriel. There is also a rumor that she soaks the wood in the water from her pitcher. There is also the tale that they are formed by a wizard or somehow injected with mithril. But never will a lavorien ever give the slightest hint. Some have tried to examine these staves but no one has ever touched one except the lavoriens and the Lady Of The Wood. No one was ever permitted to touch them either, for of this is one of the best kept secrets of all middle-earth and they plan to keep it that way. Till this day no one ever knew how the staffs of old were crafted. These wonders never abandon their masters. If they were ever captured they would disappear from their captors and return to their masters but this would only happen if they were captured. If they simply were thrown out of their reach they would do nothing. They never broke unless their master died. They would then shatter in to miniscule shards and blow into the wind. The Lavoriens wore dark clothing for battle. That is what they mostly wore. It was common though to see a lavorien in the colors and styles of the elves. They will have light greens and oranges on also because they love the woods that they live in. They also have similar footwear. They wear leather shoes except the lavoriens footwear is more like a boot than a regular shoe. The lavoriens also have similar looks to the elves. They obviously have some differences in this area also. Like the elves, the lavoriens are all clean shaven. They also have tipped ears like the elves. Additionally, they are thin and lean. Moreover, they are as fair and beautiful as the elves. Also, they have the gift of very old age and can only die in battle or of a broken heart or a sickness. They are also different. An example would be that they have dark hair instead of the lengthy golden hair of the elves. They also have dark eyes differing from the blue eyes of the elves. Their abilities slightly differ also. The elves can leap or seem to spring off the ground like no other being. This is also carried over to the lavoriens. They are also very good at blend in with the environment and sneaking up on their enemy. They also have very keen eyes like the elves do. The Lavoriens thought can’t hear as well as the elves. Elves are supposed to be the most joyous creatures of all. Lavoriens also have this gift to cheer others up. Some people say that if you have a lavorien and an elf together you will never again experience such joy as when you were around them. They also sing marvelous tunes that they make up, which is a special treat (everyone agrees), or take with them from their home land. The lavoriens live in Mirkwood. In a section they named Lavoria which is both fair and beautiful and nothing goes in and out of it without it being known. They live on the ground instead of in the high trees above. The lavoriens visit the elves, and elves visit the lavoriens, for the reason to see friends and to unite for battle or meetings. This happens almost every day. The lavoriens and the elves also even make rooms for visitors because they visit so often. Their language is the same as the elfish tongue so they would not get confused when they visited. They also had rulers. They had a king and a queen. Their names are Valawen and Aruinonod. Valawen is the fair queen and Aruinonod the just and powerful king. They ruled over all but did not collect taxes from the lavorien people. They did not have priest or nobles because they were not needed. The lavoriens never fought amongst themselves for they believed it to be foolish. They punished people by putting them in a cell they kept. The prisoners were always treated with care or sometimes treated some of them with more honor then they deserved. They had some type of enlivening bread that acted like the lembas bread of the elves. This they called welem (well-um) loaf. It rejuvenated them like nothing else. They also had a drink to that revived when they needed it. This they called lorven. When going to battle they had captains to control certain brigades. The lavorien army had 8 brigades. They had 800 men in each. They had two brigades devoted to archery. When battle came they had a meeting with the elves and they decided how many brigades, if any, would be devoted to archery. They also decided when and were they would send these brigades. They also decided what brigades, elf and lavorien ,would go together. They had 9,000 warriors altogether. They would both be in perfect lines when attacking. When surprise was the key element in a battle, the lavoriens would break off into their brigades and would go in front of the elves. Once the element of surprise was gone the elves would join them. They did this because they were quieter and had more stealth than the elves. The lavoriens thought they could raise more morale from their troops by having color ranks. Their arrow fletches were the color of their rank. There were six ranks, 1. Purple, 2. Green, 3. Blue, 4. Maroon, 5. Orange, 6. Black. They will count how many kills they have. To advance to purple 100 kills are required. To proceed to green 200 kills are required. To continue on to blue 350 are needed. Then the next one, maroon, is requiring 600 kills. For orange the requirement is 800. The highest level was black and to get it 1,200 kills were required. They also like to sing a lot, like the elves, and are almost always happy. They share a desire with hobbits for long bottom leaf or more widely known as Old Toby the best in the south farthing. They also love what some call hobbit draft or ale. They also have a tradition that at the age of 12 they design and make their own pipe. At the age of 15 they craft their own mug. Women could also do this also because they to loved to smoke and drink. They also love to dance to music while smoking and drinking. They also have a passion for things that glow or make people merry. They love things that smell good, and they have lots of gardens for they love the fragrance and beauty of flowers. They also love fire. For some reason they love the way it spreads and the effects things. This can be also be very harmful to them since they live in a forest. The lavoriens have a holiday called Bern Gem. The lavoriens love it and look forward to it every year like we do to Christmas. This holiday is for youth and adults. The holiday celebrates the making of Lavoria. This holiday is more a public day like Madri Gras. At this holiday they laugh, sing, dance, smoke, and drink ale. They do this all night and never sleep and they do this around a roaring fire that lights up just about the whole forest. All are welcome and Dwarves and elves usually come to this and bring gifts for each other. The lavoriens love this holiday the most because the next day is a rest day and no one has to work. Sometimes even hobbits show up! The lavoriens are good friends with the ents. It is said that the king of the lavoriens can rouse the ents for battle but this seldom happened. They also have a good relationship with the dwarves and loved their stone masonry. They seldom wear helmets but they have each their own and are made by the dwarves and they were wrought of mithril. For a gift of thanks they gave them some lorven for the road home and various jewels. Even some of the lavorien city is made by dwarves. Some of the famous dwarves such as Thoren, and King Dain also participated in the work on this city. The Lavoriens thanked them and provided them with the recipe for welem loaf. The dwarves gladly excepted this gift for they loved welem loaf and lembas bread. They come back to do a few things with them and for some welem loaf because they say they make it the best. The lavoriens do not have an alliance with men and they hate them. This came from long ago when men and elves were fighting the orcs on mount doom. The Lavoriens were not fighting there because they thought that it was not wise. They were right because even thought the battle was won they new that the war had began. So it was that king Isildur was slain and at the mountain of fire he rejected throwing the ring into the fire. They believed that men had persuaded the elves to join the war and so now the tide of darkness has come to take the ring again. The lavoriens are remarkable folk. They teach the women how to fight so if the men should fall they can protect Lavoria. These people are one of the most joyful folk ever. The elves had once an alliance with men and it is forming again and the Lavoriens are aware of this. They are not sure what they should do. Celeborn, Galadriel and Thranduil are meeting with Valawen and Aruinonod. Many hope they fight with the elves alongside men, but that is for them to choose. The lavoriens are a mighty wonder that will never be forgotten.
Thats my lavoria story so what did you think?
