 Well I hate to prove your mum wrong but I seriously doubt that. First off, the snake would have to get pretty massive to eat anything the size of a grown human being and secondly unless you starve the poor thing to death almost, there is no way it would ever get hungry enough to even attempt to eat a human. I watch a lot of vet programmes and stuff and I did want to be a vet but I'm not smart enough but I think I'd like to do something that will educate people about animal welfare.

I think maybe you should. Without seeming rude your mum is the type of person who could probably do with that little bit of info as it's been proved if the parent say..thinks snakes are slimy (which they ARE NOT) and they are afraid of them..they will pass this fear to their children and the whole thing will start again. That's why educating this generation, will prevent future generations from havning the same fear.

Now, that is a classic scenerio. I take it you mum doesn't like spiders? Because most likely the fear has been passed onto you. The same thing also happens with mice and bats and animals that are given a bad reputaion for no reasons or than myths.

hmmm yeah the mice thing sorta wore off tho ... my grandma despises mice and bats and little rodents and i grew up with her ... but then i always loved how cute mice and bats are... so yeah that kinda faded

How about fears! I know Haldir is afraid of spiders. Myself, I am terrified to death by mice and rats. I had a bad experience. One time I was swimming in my cousins' pool and had a very close encounter with a rat. That time, when I was like 9, I was Mr. Brightstar and was very interested in the Black Death (Don't ask why! I was interested in diseases since then.). So I knew that besides spreading the Bubonic Plague, rats could spread rabies. So I just panicked and swam out of the pool, ran upstairs (getting my cousins' house carpet wet and running into a table in the process), ran into the room that I was given for the visit, and barricaded myself. It took a while before I calmed down. I'm also afraid of fire. I have a natural intolerence to heat and sometimes, when my father used to be home, he had some friends that would smoke. Not only did it give me nasty coughs that continues to today, but I burned myself a couple times when I lifted my hand and touched one of the cigarettes. But what I am truly afraid of is a world where man was incapable of talents (writing, drawing, music). That would be my worst nightmare.

Ah, well they seem to me to be fears based on bad experiences rather than fears that have been picked up from other people. So they all seem to have a genuine for you to be afraid of them rather than the fear being drummed into you by someone else.

I don't know about my fears.. speaking for large groups is one.. but I think that has more to do with my fear of failing. For the rest I don't like spiders or frogs, but those aren't real fears.
I guess my real fear is to wake up some day and to notice I did nothing useful with my life. I want to do something productive, help people, save people.. and can't stand sitting here and seeing so much unjustice in this world.. so yeah.. that's my fear.

A totally understandable one. Some fears are irrational while some are. Yours, Will, is a rational one.

I was terrified of fire once in third grade. that was right after I thought my apartment would burn down when someone pulled a false fire alarm.
I don't really have many fears except for my fear of piano recitals. I'm usually comfortable speaking/acting in front of a group but when it comes to piano recitals, I fall on my face (literally... almost).
