Devon pulled the cabin dorr shut behind her. It was time to do her homework that she had put off all summer. Mist was pressing against the windows as the train moved steadily on. She let out a groan when she realise just how much she had to do.

Faintly outside, chattering could be heard, and two students walked past - a girl with brilliant red hair and a taller, dark-haired boy. The boy stopped to listen to her for a moment, and then nodded and with a grin gave her a wave and slipped into another compartment. The girl kept walking, and stopped outside Devon's, opening the door a little.
"Mind if I join you?" she enquired, her head tilted questioningly. "The other compartments seem to be full."

Glancing up from the book she was reading, Raven groaned quietly at the banter going on back and forth between her brother Aaron and his friend, Jeremy. They made an odd trio, to be sure, since Aaron was a Hufflepuff, she herself was a Gryffindor, and Jeremy was a Slytherin. Despite house differences, they all managed to get along..well, most of the time.

"Will you two shut up for one minute?" Raven asked as evenly as she could, pushing her glasses up farther on the bridge of her nose.

"Hmm, let me think about it..nope!" Aaron shot back, though jokingly, and Raven rolled her eyes and returned to her reading.
