Yay! A doctor! Thanks, Mornie! I'm still trying to figure out a good place for Jack. He just doesn't seem like he'd be with the French.
What's an OC? I'm not real up on the terminology. lol

Yes, Jack's a pirate. lol. That's a good idea, Melda, or maybe they (Jack and the HMS captain) could meet. Jack could have a personal vendetta or something against the captain of the French ship, and help? What do you think, Pippin?

Background: Pat was press-ganged into service when he was fifteen, but after a few years of training as a sailor, he managed to switch over to service with the Royal Marines, with whom he has worked for the last seven years. He is a highly skilled swordsman and marksman, and thanks to his red coat and rank insignia, is often marked out for attack in a fight, though that does simply give him more practice.

Oh, one thing, Elenya - Isobel isn't a privateer, she's part of the crew of the HMS Steadfast, and she gets taken hostage by the privateers along with Niamh.

((Ok, starting!))
Captain Jacob MacNeil stood at the bow of the <i>HMS Steadfast</i>, watching the French privateer ship sail off. It had come upon them swiftly out of the fog, boarded them, and left just as quickly. The privateers had taken two hostages and a chest containing valuable documents and set sail for France.
He turned his gaze from the sea back to the ship. "Mr. Newell."
The coxswain snapped to attention. "Yes, sir?"
"Set a course south-south west."
"Aye sir."
The <i>Steadfast</i> set out as full sail after the privateers.
