Slughorn returned to the front of the class and tapped his wand. The wand levitated upwards, positioned itself like a quill pen, and began writing out the recipe for an advanced polyjuice potion on the chalkboard. "Materials are there," he said, indicating the back table. "I expect you to be finished by the end of the class."

"I'll go get us the ingredients," Remus volunteered, feeling he had to be merciful toward the half-awake Sirius.

Lily hastily got up for the ingredients. She was first to the back table and swiftly collected the needed materials, obviously thinking about something else.

James got all his supplies and sat down next to Remus and Sirius. He set up his stuff, occasionally glancing at Lily.

There was a large explosion from the other side of the room, and Lily gave a small shriek as bright orange liquid bubbled out of her cauldron, burning a hole in her robe. She hastily extinguished the fire beneath her cauldron, calming the bubbling mess down, and looked up at the professor, scarlet-faced with embarassment.

"Er... Evans, you ok?" He asked casually.

Remus was just measuring out something to pour in his cauldron when he heard the explosion. He was about to ask Lily if she was all right when he noticed the look on James's face. Stepping over to him casually, he nudged him, "Oy, Prongs... you're making a fool of yourself."

Snape ingored Potter, who seemed at the monent making a fool or himself. This is what Snape seemed to enjoy. Half-laughing under is breath, he went back to work.

"Uh - no - fine, thanks," was her flustered reply to his question, and she looked unhappily back at her cauldron, which was looking less and less like a cauldron and more and more like a twisted mess.
