Honestly, I like people that do use a little, but dont go overboard with make-up. I want to see the beauty of ladies eyes, not their eyes masked in a thick layer of make-up. On the not of low shorts, I think it is stupid. They think they are so cool if ungergarments are showing, which it isnt. There is an exceptible limit of undergarment showing, but it can become too extreme. The other thing that I detest is guys wearing tight jeans. One, not appropriate, and two, just doesnt work. I am fashion declined, but I know what looks like trash!

Gah! Why is it that people have stopped really caring about how they present themselves and how they look? Don't they have any pride!?

It's sad the way our society dresses nowadays. Sometime's I wish I could go back a hundred or so years to a more modest time in history. *winknudge JF*

Of course, I don't want über modest, like wearing long skirts and long sleeves, but you know what I mean. :)

Oh, yeah, where is the pride! Where has this generation gone wrong. Actually I am convinced it is our parent's generation that went wrong - during the war when so many kids lives were disrupted and family life went wrong so some people weren't up as properly as they should have been and all those war time romances and illegitimate children..yeah...be wary of the 1960's teenagers..anyway..

*nudgeLaraelnudgewinknudge* Bring back corsets and powdered wigs!!

Well maybe not corsets..just elegant dressses..and probably not powderd wigs either..but you know! :P

Pride is one word for it, but another is respect. Hardly anyone dresses respectfully anymore. As RA was saying, how can you look a guy straight and seriously in the eye when his shorts go clear down to the floor?

I think it is more respect that come into it. If you don't respect yourself, no one else is going to are they? Fashion is a huge pile of rubbush. It really confuses me why people wear, things because they 'look good' and are 'in fashion', but are uncomfortable and unpleasant to wear. The first criteria for me when picking clothese is; dooes it feel comfortable? could I spend a long time wearing it, and not feel uncomfortable? I don't care what it looks like, as long as it it largely plain, and not in any vibrant colours. Blues, dark greens, greys, creams, and the like for me :P

But as we girls agreed earlier, we're willing to wear something uncomfortable if we look cool. If I feel pretty, I act loads more sure of myself. And then during that moment at school when the popular girl asks you wear you got your sweater...
I can tell you that I felt pretty good right about then. :)

You girls obviously have slightly different priorities. Personally I couldn't give a damn what anybody thinks of what I'm wearing, as long as I feel good. Though i do have to say I feel better about myself when I'm wearing my suit, because I know I look better in that, more than anything else, so I understand where you are coming from.

And in answer to Antigone's question, (assuming you are asking with regards to girls) I would say that something that is not overly revealing, because, believe it or not, I don't actualy want to see everything the first time I see you. Obviously, if you have a good body then there is no problem with you showing it off to some extent, but as I said earlier, .someone who respects them self gains more respect from others

Its extremly different for girls. Girls are very shallow I'm afraid and an insult dents their pride, never questiona girls outfit, unless you're a girl!

^^We can act shallow, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that we are shallow.

I read this in a book -- both genders have that one question that drives what they do. For guys it's, "Do I have what it takes?" and for girls, it's "Am I captivating?"

You most likely won't agree, as this book was written by a Christian author. But I have found it to be true.

So the thing about what this author said, is that every girl wants to be beautiful. Stand out from the crowd. Be the Cinderella who enters the room to everyone looking up at her. Not just to be noticed, but to be wanted.

Ahh like Gwen said, girls can ACT shallow, but its kind of shallow to call yourself shallow, as you're a girl ... and I know I'm not shallow but ima girl...

and i dont mind questioning from any genders about my clothing really ... only yesterday at camp - during dinner - i was wearing a thin, lacy tank top and a bunch of my guyfriends were saying stuff like "why do you dress like that?" and "you're such a stripper" and i was like .. "why don't YOU dress like that?" and again you cant really accuse a girl of being overly revealing with their clothing because it really depends on your mood and stuff ... like, why would i NOT wear a tanktop at camp?

so yeah maybe its just some girls that act shallow and giggly and *cough* other things, but a lot of other girls can act mature enough to counter scarlett's statement
