Faceless mods, haha! But most mods are very quiet - in a threatening way. :-D

Although some are actually very helpful . . . so we should be grateful to have some around - sometimes

*dashes out of thread before the mods kick her out because this is an introduction thread for moderators* Tehe! :bye2:

Hello folks! This is (obviously :P) the Mod account, and if you have a question or a comment or anything to make to all the mods, contact us through here. :) Otherwise feel free to PM any of us individually at any time.

Ah yes - I'm also quiet in real life, although not so much here at the forum. :)

Oh - thanks for clarifying at that part! I've always wondered if we were free to PM the mods at that account, because I didn't know if you checked the inbox there as frequently as you checked your own, individual accounts. So, thanks. I'm often not sure which mod to contact when I had/have questions, because not all of you mods seem very active. (Some of you only have a few posts, and I don't even know if all the mods from the previous forum joined this new one.) Some of you, however, I see all the time, so I know that you're the most active ones. :bye2:

Why are the moderators not very active, if I may ask? I think this is a weird business. They introduce themselves, make some posts and we never get to see them again :S

Should I say anything about myself on this thread, or will my About Me page on A-U suffice?

Strange that you would ask us, since you're the one in charge here. :-D

But it would be nice to hear more about yourself, Arwen. And it would be nice to hear from the rest of the moderators whom I don't often see around here . . . :bye2:

Well I'm slighly late I think :-D

I've been around the new forum for ages, infact *goes to check list* I was the 5th member :P I just havn't bothered to post here before.

Anyway I'm Elanor AKA Fiona. I'm 19 making me one of the old moddies. I'm also Scottish and I'm at Glasgow University studying English Literature and Philophy.

If you want to chat to me please PM me I especially enjoy talking about books, movies, politics and philosphy. I also enjoy talking about Johnny Depp and your PM would be even more welcome if it included pictures of him

I really love reading and some of my favourite authors are J.K Rowling, Philip Pullman and Jane Austen. While I also love LotR I seem to have lost my enthusism for it slightly at the moment. I'm hoping it'll come back soon.

I love making websites and esspecially playing around with photoshop. My website's address is http://www.fantasy-worlds.co.uk/

Yeah that's enought for the moment. You'll find me in the literature board probably talking about Harry Potter :)

Well, I was quite active on the old forum, but I have pretty much been absent all summer, but now here I am!

My name is Jenny or you will see many refer to me as Jen, or possibly JenJen. Anything works. My relationship with God is the most important part of my life.

I've been a member of the A-U forum pretty much since the old proboards one started, and a mod since last November-ish.

I've been a fan of LotR since after I saw FotR in theaters a few months after it came out, however I had already read the Hobbit a few years earlier. After seeing FotR I immediately read the books and fell in love. I must say that now I am more of a book fan than a movie fan, but I still love the movies :-D My favorite characters are Sam, Eowyn, and Faramir.

Ehhm... I have lived in northern Colorado (USA) my entire life in the same city at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. And contrary to popular belief, just because you live in Colorado does not mean that there is an ever-present blanket of snow outside my window.

Uh, other facts about me:
I'm 16
But that doesn't mean I have my driver's license
I'll soon be entering my junior year of high school
I wear contacts
I'm quite short (5'2" or 3" ish)
I have 2 younger brothers and 1 older sister
I don't especially like high school
In fact, I'd much rather be in college right now
I have brown hair that is dyed reddish-brown
I am commonly seen wearing jeans and my Beauty and the Beast shirt I got for 50 cents at ARC, and flip flops
I'm addicted to rice krispies, ramen, iced tea, ice cream, and chocolate
I'm also addicted to chap stick and gum
I'm a book nerd and my favorites are Pride and Prejudice, Captivating (by John and Stasi Eldredge), LotR, Harry Potter, and several Michael Crichton books
I like Napoleon Dynamite, but Monty Python is better
Due the overuse of Napoleon Dynamite quotes by everyone I know, my best comeback is "yer mom"
I love playing around with photoshop, but my $15-a-week babysitting job is not enough to buy me PSP (donations are accepted)
I am running out of things to say
I'm a huge Harry Potter nerd, and my favorite characters are Lupin and Hermione

uuhhmm okay I'm done for now :P

*flies away*
:vampire:

Ack! I can't believe I haven't posted in here yet! *passes out*

*comes to*
Okay, I'm good now. Here goes.

Hey, I'm Nienor. I took my name from the same story as Turin, the tale of the children of Hurin. It's a wonderful story, you should read it sometime. My 'real' name is Hannah, and I'm fifteen years old.
I live in the state of Maine, the one that is most commonly left off the maps. I wouldn't live anywhere else, I love Maine. It may be a little cold, but we have the most beautiful foliage in the world! And growing up with both mountains and the ocean is wonderful. :)
I have one younger brother, and he comes on AU as Radagast, but everyone calls him Rad. Occasionally, I'll be talking to him and slip into using his internet name! Oops!
I've been visiting AU for...um...sixteen months! And that's just the forum. I've been a moderator for something like nine months.
Here are some facts about me, but I doubt I'll get to one hundred!
1- I'm a Christian
2- As of this year, I'm homeschooled, and VERY very excited! I can't wait for school to start!
3- My literature course will be based entirely on LotR (how cool is that? How many people's parents will let them study a fantasy novel??)
4- I'd like to teach drama classes to kids, but my huge, most impossible dream is...Broadway. *siiigh*
5- I've never been much of a girly girl, in fact I used to really wish I was a boy (heh), but I think it's fun to do all sorts of interesting things with hair. Hair and dresses are my only real indulgences. :P
6- I wore my hair in two braided buns today, yesterday in a big crossover braid, and the day before, up, and last week, two lace braids back to a braided bun...yeah, I think this stuff is uber fun.
7- I first read LotR after all the movies had come out. I refused my parents' suggestions (to read the book) for years, because I was afraid I'd like it more than Redwall! Well, I finally gave in, then watched the movies, and whaddaya know, I like LotR more than any book I've ever read. :P
8- I was once told by a respected Bible teacher that I was way too obsessed with LotR...I wrote her a letter detailing my myriad of reasons for loving the books, and she repented of her comment. :) I also learned bunches about myself in doing so.
9- I love costuming. When I was little, I helped Mom make Redwall costumes and halloween costumes, and this year I've been spending half my free time at www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr studying the costumes. I just borrowed my friend's dress double and I think I'm almost ready to start practicing drafting bodices! *yess!*
10- I'm going to the Narnia opening with my family and friends in costume. :D We'll be dressed as: The Lion, the Witch (me!), and the Wardrobe (hooray for cardboard boxes), Reepicheep (Rad ;)), maaaybe Puddleglum, and Lucy.
11- I've always loved reading. Actually, anything to do with words. Some of my favorite books are: The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Cat Who...series, Mrs. Pollifax, Beowulf, and oh so many more.
12- My passion is musical theater. Ask anyone who knows me. Ever since I was a little kid I've loved performing, and I've been taking classes since I was ten. The small Christian school I have attended for a few years is famous for it's Gilbert and Sullivan musicals, and I went to see them for years. Three years ago, I performed in my first G&S, The Pirates of Penzance! In 8th grade, I had my first little lead, as Ella in Patience. Last year, I played Peep-Bo in The Mikado, a tiny part, but really fun and evil. *grin* Rad was in it too, as one of the Mikado's flag bearers. Then I was a chorus member in the alumni production of The Yeomen of the Guard, which was amazingly fun, especially since my Dad was one of the Yeomen! I already have almost all the music memorized for next year's production- I'm hoping for the part of Gianetta, in Gondoliers, my favorite G&S so far!
13- I can't emphasize my love of music, acting, and musical theater enough. I've taken voice lessons for only a little over a year, and I'm a soprano. My whole family (except Rad, but he will when he's older) sings, and we love doing three-four part harmony. I love being soprano, my ultimate hero (and favorite vocal artist) is Renee Fleming. My voice is nothing like hers, I'm a lyric soprano, and I possess very little vibrato. Which basically rules out being on Broadway, I could never get loud enough. But I like having a somewhat pure tone. My teacher has me sing showtunes, which is super fun! I'm working on pushing my voice up into my nose, then mixing it with my head voice. Those of you that take lessons will understand that. :P
14- My mom's a piano teacher. I play piano as well!
15- As for what I want to do when I'm older...nothing I love will earn me a living. I would love to do historical reenactment (especially civil war era), but that doesn't pay. I love linguistics, but don't have the patience to be a teacher, and what else can you do involving language? Acting is my main interest, but again, not many people become well known and actually make any money off of it. Orlando Bloom got lucky.
16- I've met Alatariel in real life, and she's a dear. One of my good friends, both online and off!
17- I'm GOING to meet Miremiel in real life, it just might be a while before I can get the money. :P
18- Kitoky is my mommy, Tulk is/was my father, Theni is my adoptive mom, and Rad is my brother. No, I mean on the moddie family tree. He's Kit's son, too.
19- I love the ocean, especially the atlantic. It's so beautiful! I'm convinced that Maine is one of the most beautiful places in the world. My familiy likes hiking, too.
20- I overuse the :P smiley.

So anyway, there's a look into my life, it's not much to speak of (though this is a really long post, I think I got carried away!), but now you know me a little better. :D

Ah what the heck, I'm not a mod (although I do mod duties sometimes), but I might as well post.

'allo! My name is Arwen the webmaster, although most people just call me Arwen, Kit calls me Ar, and Elva calls me Tev. I just found A-U a couple weeks ago! Uh just kidding :p I of course have been here since the very very beginning, back in the scary dark ages when the tag board wasn't auto-refresh, we couldn't ban anyone for any longer than an hour, and *gashp* there weren't any mods. I know, very scary. And you know, in the very VERY dark ages, there *shudder* wasn't a forum, a tag-board, OR a chat room! How could we live???

1) I call myself "Arwen the webmaster" instead of "Arwen the webmistress" because the word "mistress" does not have a very good connotation at all.
2) I call myself "Arwen" because back in the days when I was young and stupid I was a bit more of a fan of Arwen than I am now. I still like her, but I would have chosen a different name both for A-U and for myself had I really thought A-U would grow this big.
3) My evil mod name is Tevildiel, a spoof on Tevildo, the Prince of Cats who took the place of Sauron in the Book of Lost Tales. Elva likes that name and therefore calls me "Tev" for short.
4) I usually do not reveal my age, but almost every other mod is doing so, so here it is: *gashp* I'm 17.
5) I am going into my senior year of high school.
6) High school is a relative term. My high school is my home (w00t for homeschoolers).
7) I've been homeschooled all my life.
8 ) I am currently in the very icky college application process.
9) I am applying to five schools scattered around the country
10) I always thought it would be cool to go to school in NZ, but parentses said NO. :annoyed2:
11) I've been a LotR fan since I was 13
12) I heard the movies were going to come out and decided I wanted to read at least FotR before I saw the movie.
13) I did finish FotR before I saw the movie version, and then read TTT and RotK before TTT the movie came out.
14) I've read a lot of other Tolkien books besides LotR - the furthest I've gotten in the History of Middle-earth is The Lost Road (was that it? I think...) but I never finished it. Was very confusing.
15) My favorite character in both the books and movies is Sam
16) My favorite LotR actor used to be Elijah Wood, but after learning more about him, I'm on the verge of going with Billy Boyd instead.
17) I used to absolutely HATE Orlando Bloom, but now I just think he's rather...erm...good-natured but vacant.
18 ) Unlike most girls my age, I am not totally boy-crazy, but I do have my favorite actorses ;)
19) I am very fond of Harry Potter
20) I am not very fond of people who dislike HP without having read the books
21) My favorite HP characters are Harry, Hermione, Gilderoy (heehee), and Lupin.
22) I don't understand the whole bad-boy-loving phenomenon (how could anyone love Draco and Snape??? tsk tsk...)
23) As is a bit obvious, I like to read. A lot. Unless the book in question is boring.
24) I can't stand horror movies
25) ^ They scare me to death
26) ^^I will never forget how Bilbo as Jack the Ripper looked
27) ^^^I'm talking about the movie "From Hell" in case you're wondering
28 ) I have a morbid fascination with sharks
29) I learn all I can about them, but...
30) ...I'm scared to death of them
31) I like animals
32) I have a golden retriever named Mischa and a parakeet named Tweety
33) I like animals so much that I've raised orphaned baby squirrels (some VERY ancient A-Uers may rememer the picture gallery) and volunteer at my zoo
34) I'm usually not very fond of snakes, but I've had to get over that feeling at the zoo
35) I still don't like snakes :p
36) I like playing the piano
37) Movie scores are some of my favorite music to play
38 ) I also like playing pop pieces, but they never sound right on the piano
39) ^ Especially if they don't have the melody line included in the accompaniment
40) ^ That's why playing "My Immortal" was challenging
41) I like the band Evanescence very very much
42) But some of my favorite songs of theirs aren't on "Fallen" so not very many people have heard them
43) Unlike other people on this thread, I'm usually not a fan of musicals
44) They're weird
45) People get up and start singing for no reason
46) That said, I LOVE Phantom of the Opera
47) *squee* Raoul *squee*
48 ) I made Kit's Raoul banner :-D
49) Even though he's the title character, I don't like Phanny very much
50) Christine is a ditz
51) I try to sing the Phantom songs but usually have to keep switching octaves since I don't have a high range
52) But my sister and I still try to do the different parts of the songs
53) ^ The harmony on "All I Ask of You" turned out best
54) I can sing up to the E above the C above middle C (if that makes sense)
55) I also like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
56) My favorite farewell is "So long and thanks for all the fish"
57) And of course, the answer to the meaning of life is 42
58 ) But what is the question?
59) "How many roads must a man walk down?" is a good bet
60) I love love love the original Star Wars trilogy
61) When I was younger and went to "park days" with other homeschoolers, we also used to get together and play Star Wars war.
62) That said, I can't stand the new SW movies.
63) I am probably the only person I know on the forum who doesn't even like Revenge of the Sith
64) But I think at least some people would agree with me that Jar-jar should have gotten shmoltzed.
65) The Brits have all the fun words....snogging, prat, kip, cupboard, etc.
66) ^ Unfair
67) I plan on making it at least to 100 on this list, but currently I am about to leave for the rink in 15 minutes and must have lunch
68 ) However...
69) I am a figure skater and that's why I'm going to the rink
70) I skate once a week and have a half-hour lesson each time
71) I've been skating for about seven years now
72) But I only do it reacreationally
73) It's a very prima donna-ish sport (every girl for herself) and competitions are very nasty
74) So I only competed once and then decided I didn't like it
75) Even ice shows (exhibitions) are nerve-wracking
76) The rink is about 30-40 minutes away, and the traffic keeps getting worse and worse as more people move here
77) Some skaters are very bratty :annoyed: Smush them! Tell the little kidlets to respect their elders! :p
78 ) I like smileys :)
79) I collect them in fact
80) I also collect photos
81) I'd elaborate on my collecting habits...
82) But my Mum will smush ME if I don't get off right now

At least 18 more facts later!

~Ar
