We always have a huge fight in school over who gets the Tamora Pierce Books, some people come in early to get the newer ones when they come out!

They are worth perservering with. The Circle Opens is pretty good, and The Will of the Empress is really good.

I just thought of Tamora Pierce now and wondered where the thread-which-I-had-seen-but-never-posted-in were. I found it! The Alanna series were among my favorite books once, I laughed and I cried with her. Pierce's way of writing captured my heart and mind, and as has been mentioned, I loved the way Alanna was described as a female warrior with female concerns in contrast to all the male characteristics, and also the fact that she was a healer too! And now the books still appear to be magical to me... and for that reason I never dared to re-read them in case my opinion might have changed when I read them again.
I never really read other books from Tamora Pierce... I don't think they had others at my school library.

Thats really funny, lucky for me i own all of her books they take up like 1 whole shelf and a bit. I love the Daine books, the circle ones are good but they ussually get better at the end. i really loke the Aly books. She is so like her father. I especially can't waut for Terrier to come out.

I know! When do they come out?
I too have a shelf for Tamora Pierce. I have all the circle of magic books, except for Will of the Emperess, and all of the Tortall ones, with the exception of the last three in the Immortals, and Trixter's Queen.

Yes, I bought Beka Cooper: Terrier and really, really liked it. It took a few pages to get into, because being in first person and being a journal it reads a bit differently... and, since it's set 200 prior to the Alanna books, the language use is slightly different. But it's very captivating and entertaining, and the references to noble families that feature in later books amusing. I liked it a lot better than the Aly books.
The most frustrating thing about it is waiting for the next one. I only started reading Tamora Pierce 18 months ago, and haven't had to wait for the next book to come out before.

Yes, and he's called Pounce instead of Faithful. I thought it was great seeing him again. Love that cat.

A little off topic but not to far as it still has to do with Tamora... well for my english we had to pick a book and make a media component for it... I picked Alanna the first adventure now need to make a movie poster for it and i'm trying to decide what actors/actessess should paly the characters any feed back would be much appreciated!! or any helpful tips on what should be on it i'm thinking like the black city and the horses of caiurse cause I really like horses and i can actually darw them which is about the only thing i can draw. lol.

Horses are probably good because they're easier to find pictures of them looking the way you want as well. I'm not sure about actresses... do you have to draw it? or use pre-existing images? look at the different book covers (they're a lot of them on Tamora Pierce's site) and they could give you an idea of how Alanna could look.
I'm curious - how to people say Alanna? I try to pronounce it Al-anna, but if I'm not thinking about it, I end up saying Alana (with an ar sound)...
