I only defend my knowledge when people are attacking it. I don't know everything about music, rock or metal but I know enough to know what belongs to what genre and which genres came from which.
I base my statements on my 9 years of music education. _________________

How can someone attack your knowledge? They can attack your opinions or they can doubt/contradict your knowledge. But... attacked? LOL!

I'm talking musically here. Where did Metal come from and how did it start if it didn't come from rock? And where did rock come from?

Metal really did come from anger and hatred and defiance of all mainstream...I AM talking musically.
Metal lyrics and sound are much more angry than rock, if you take a look at a lot of it.
