Kunta Kinte!
Have any of you seen the mini-series "Roots"? My class and I are watching it in History class. Kunte Kinte has become our class mascot. We were very dissapointed when the actor changed. Almost every class you will here us imploring "Kunta? Kunta, please?" Our history teacher works the cash register at the cafeteria, so when ever our history class buys food he'll say somthing like "Pizza, dummy" I love Roots.

Another thread for me to show my old age.

I remember watching this with my parents when it was on originally.
Really excellent series. I must invest in the dvd at some point.

Ohmigosh!!!

We are watching it in History too :D

I have to say, never before has a video spurned SO MANY quotes from my class. At every opportunity 'Kunta? Kunta Kinte?!' is shouted...my personal favourite is 'He know! He know you are a warrior!' which inspired, of course, conversations like-

Teacher- You've got a detention at lunch.
Me- But I've already got a Maths one!
*Random voice from back of classroom*- She KNOW...She KNOW you have detention..

Oh wow. Roots. Excellent show. The first time I saw it was in my 8th grade U.S. History class. Wow. That means about 5 1/2 years ago. :jawdrop: But I still remember thinking it was excellent. Beautiful piece of work. Inspiring.
