(lol, still listed with ol' nick... Elf Girl... merry old times. )
Sorry for inactivity.
We're doing ancient Egypt right now and we'll start Greece pretty soon. I think I prefer Egypt - Greeks never respected women and treated them like rotten cheese.

For the one`s that control the area that is Guerilla warfare is the only way some factions can actually put up against some foes, besides it does have a great moral effect as soldiers have no idea where the attack might be coming from

Indeed, but it's a pain in the rear. Especially after reading about all of this medieval literature where you didn't have to worry about people trying to form an ethnic state and etc. Plus if you had a problem you could just remove its head.

Well, it would depend on who you're cheering for. In the American Revolution, the colonists were the one using guerilla warfare and y'know, go Americans!
But if your side is losing BECAUSE of guerilla warfare, then booo!

The funny thing abot guerilla warfare is not to bring open warfare and to drive out the enemy by force, but by exhausting them, effecting on the soldiers morale and home front, not to mention keep your own rescources hidden from the enemy

There is a rather gruesome way to stop guerilla warfare, you would obliterate cities that were centers of resistance and basically bomb out the whole country.

Not really, the kind of destruction I'm envisaging is on the nuclear scale, making a city basically non existant.

Well that's what I thought the Russians basically did in WWI to WWII --- when they moved forward, they burned cities and resources and then when they lost they burned their own cities.
I do know that the that happened in the American Revolution ----- I don't remember if the South burned their own cities/railroads or the North burned them.

Russians, Germans and all the big nations did use big bombing tactics perhaps, but not that they could have bombed a whole country and besides the funniest story from the winter war is when the russians tried to bomb helsinki. We, the finns actually kinda created a fake town aside and light some things there so that it would appear as a city at night. The russians bombed that then Not very good bombing then
btw I don`t think any advancing army would be stupid enough to destroy their future and needed cover Kitoky, not even the russians

Indeed, Russia's army had only recently performed well at the end of World War II against the Nazis.

Funny how the up coming warfare development was most succesful for Germany and survived the test, USSR on the other hand did not make the test all that well... T-34 was the best thing the russians came up with... in 1942...
and sure Lalaith

To be honest, the T-34 is a bit overrated, some people seem to treat it as the instrument that turned the battle when I hear their opinions.

Well I actually agree, but it was the mad quantity that they could put out a tank that could match that of the germans on the field. I mean germans always had better tanks, but think of the mass amount of production by the US or USSR. Sherman was a common tank, but not very good. Under armoured, not enough firepower, high and of course the placing of the rounds making the jerries call it: "The Tommy Cooker"
